Yeah, I walked into Metro's at Rennaissance to pick up a friend, only to hear a rather painfully abortive attempt by Seaman to mix on CDs. He put the Metro's Massive through about 4 minutes of the most painful beat crunching I've ever heard in my life (outside of my own loungeroom, that is :))

I'll wait to see him before I make up my mind, I haven't seen him yet.
Jay Denham should be awesome along with Freq Nasty and Infusion.

he played progressive, some rather nice tunes but his programming and mixing meant that it was flat. nothing exciting at all.

hmmm, where will I be for NYE? Which city has the lineup for me??
I DONT KNOW DAMMIT!!
SciFi doesnt really do it for me, except for Dave and a chance to see Infusion.

ahhh, worry not somegeek, after that last comment of yours about Dave Seaman, I know everything is back to normal....

Dave Seaman is an awesome DJ, rated at #2 on my DJ list.
His track selection is always fresh. He has his own sound in the progressive scene. He is always able to connect with the crowd. His Brothers in Rhythm work with Steve Anderson is production excellence. His Renaissance CD contained so many awesome clubbing tracks, many still coming out on vinyl now, months after the CD release. Dave is doing the next Global Underground CD.

I'm off to see him tonight @ Room 680 and am very excited about this prospect.

BRING ON DAVE!!

Jay Denham?....Is he more Tek House ( like say Stacey Pullen) or more banging (like say Richie Hawtin)....

the live sets I've heard of him are more bangin'

brad

Mr Denham is indeed a trifle more banging then most of the Richie's stuff....

as always, one must be wary of making strong comments in the opposite direction to the oriiginal.

try: I THINK his track selection is always fresh... I THINK he is always able to connect with the crowd. ETC

unless you were trying to stir of course

my football comment was a poor attempt at humour - david seaman is an english footballer who should have retired long ago and looks like he should be on a whaling vessel.

somegeek, just like you I call it as I see it....and on this one I had a different OPINION to yours. Considering i wrote that msg I thought it was pretty clear "I THINK" those things. You dont have to agree with me :)

Thats said, I wasnt too impressed with Mr Seaman on Friday night, and I shall have to revise my OPINION of him and his djing. Call it an off night, or something, but several of us were very dissapointed with his gig last w'end compared to his scorching hot set at Two Tribes earlier this yr, and his great Renaissance Desire CD. Oh well......maybe next time he'll be ok.

muhahahaha

that voodoo doll i was playing with the other night did bare a resemblance...

it's a bit different to say "he connects really well with the crowd"

to

"He is always able to connect with the crowd"

one sounds a bit more like opinion than the other, in my view ;-)

i have an idea! how about we all go visit a well known lessser celebrity dj fellow here in perth - lets accept his offer of a fantastic new years - only to be taken to a damn crappy house party where drunk, fat people are playing twister - then enjoy being stuck in his room for 5 hours while he sits in front of his crappy mac making 'plink-plonk' music and goes all psycho on our asses the next day

(:
