Today I picked up Simcity4, just released today (one day ahead of America, can you believe it).
Anyway, I'm a little disappointed with a couple of things, namely the lack of new features. Although the simulation engine calculates so much better and makes it a little more realistic, there isn't really much else on offer. I was expecting a few extra things to manage, I was disappointed to see mainly rehashes of old ones.
If anyone else has this game, let me know what you think of it.
Cheers,
K.

i think it's more just developing an alreayd popular product.
Sim has been around since the amiga days. . god, how could i forget that! ..
hehe, yes i did have a little read of SC4, and there are quite a few new features, mostly within the engine of the game.. Like things you do now, or lack thereof effect how your city turns out..
TO be honest, ever since the original and SC2, i came axros v3 and was put off by all the cash, tax, and advisors all the time.. all i wanted to do is make the fucker grow, but it didn't allow. . maybe their were cheats, but i never knew about it.
perhaps this new version brings back some of the fun of creating your own society... eg rollercoaster tycoon.

I got Simcity 4 and it's pretty cool. The graphics are awesome and the game is really accurate in terms of 'simulating' urban planning, growth, development etc.
On the down side, it gets really really slow.
To the guy that was talking about roller coaster tycoon, i've got teh Win 95/98 version... do you know how to get it to run on Windows XP because whenever I try and play it, a message comes up saying 'not compatible with Windows NT' or something like that...
Thanks,
Dave

yeah i got it too...
Love the graphics and the amount of control you have over everything! I have a feeling it will be upgraded heaps online and with expansion packs in a similar way to the sims
Biggest prob with it is its sooo difficult to make money! I hate cheating but have been and it makes it a whole lot more fun

I had SimCity3000 and loved it but I'm thinking twice about buying number 4 from you comments. I would like a few more new nobs to twiddle & tweak.
To run roller coaster tycoon on XP try right clicking on the shortcut and selecting propertys then compatibility/run this program as Windows 98.
Everyone knows that compatibility mode is bullshit. It never fixes anything.

I can't get into it. The graphics are gorgeous, but it requires too much macro-management for my liking.
SimCity 2000 is still my favourite.
