Just a quick note on HOMELANDS which took place in the UK this weekend.

From all reports a wicked day, sun soaked and super hot with 45000 rolling up on the day

Seen pumping the flag:
Mark and Sarah Broadbent in cracking form
One Mr Sugar Ray tearing up the dance floor (yes tearing up a dance floor)
by all accounts a very excited Jason Bye
and a little messy Phat Planet film crew

Highlight of the night: 2000 people plus packed the VIP room for 6 straight hours of DANNY TENAGLIA... getting it on big time to the man, sasha emerson dope smugglers lawler..

Tenaglia was reported to have mixed 90% CDR's all night and had bought some 600 with him.

looking forward to an offical ITM review.....

Q: If a man who has been djing for 30 years and been at the top of the world for the last 15 can embrace a change like that (CDR's) what say the rest of the die hard vinyl junkies???

Tenaglia is a nut, I mean the year I went to Homelands they had a "D" tent which was Digweed for 2 hours Deep Dish for 2 Hours and then Tenaglia for about 10 and as per usual it was the last tent with tunes coming out of it as the sun came up on Sunday morning !! ( he was eating his dinner in between mixes !)

45000 is that all! GC are expecting 50000 at this years Summer Sound System!

Any way we need more out-door events like HOMELANDS and SSS here in Aus considering that we have the perfect summer weather for them.

Well....Digweed rocked :) Wasn't a VIP unforunately so didn't get to see the 6 hour Tenaglia set but for an ordinary punter i was happy.

I was so impressed with the organisation of homelands though. Anyone who says that the corporatisation of dance music is a bad thing, obviously hasn't had the pleasure of going into a port-a-loo at a festival somewhere around 3 in the morning and still having it clean and with toilet paper....there were people employed purely to stand there with bags of loo roll and replenish when necessary.

There were water filling stations as well with continuous running free cold water all day and night. And the transport was absolutely no problem whatsoever...getting home was an absolute breeze.

Major complaint about the sound in the Twilo tent though. We were in the middle of the dancefloor during Sasha's set and we could talk to each without shouting. Move back a bit, and the sound was bouncing around the tent like you wouldn't believe. Sure, the tent was massive but when the main drawcard of the Twilo arena was the sound system you'd think they could get it right. We had to go right over to the side and stand right in front of one of the speaker stacks for it to be loud enough. And there were sound problems during Carl Cox's set as well (different tent, and they seemed to be fixed up pretty quick)

All in all, fantastic day....I felt like I was in the middle of a mixmag magazine :)
