I'm a straight guy but don't usually hug guys who I don't know..... many guys find that wrong and uncomfortable... .this is where the big hi fives comes into it.... you can usually tell from looking at a person, what state they're in and how they're feeling towards the crowd.... after assessing this you can then get into less trouble

Not to shrink from the sweaty embraces of strangers. It's the human equivlent of a dog humping your leg - unpleasantly moist, embarrassing and occasionally requiring a swift kick.

I'd actually prefer people didn't paw me in any way. I'll even avoid a hello/goodbye peck on the cheek with acquaintances if I'm not in the mood.

I don't mind hugging strange girls so much (being a fairly strange girl myself) but unknown guys offering unsolicited hugs will generally be met with a thin-lipped grimace and a brief, discouraging squeeze - showing good manners whilst at all times remaining a lady.

Maybe this makes me uptight, but I'd really rather save grandiose displays of affection for close friends, or more likely for a boyfriend. My lovin' is not a free-for-all, distributed willy-nilly, hither and thither!

I have never wanted to hug complete strangers but people seem to be extremely affectionate towards me.

Usually, I am not rude but not overly accepting of this sort of behaviour but can't say it bothers me too much - I don't really think of it.

I am really short and always, at least once a night, I will get someone making some comment about how small I am and loving it or whatever and it's water off a ducks back.

But for the first time, on Field Day, I had LOADS of people coming and hugging me, telling me how cute I was, patting my head, getting me to give them five cos being short is the shit, etc etc, you can see what it was like. I just wanted to dance! Then, whilst waiting in line for water, this guy came up to me and started kissing me and then walked off. I didn't even bat an eyelid, I just wanted my water. I am rather fond of hugs from either friends or strangers and even group hugs. I am probably one of those annoying people that some of you have mentioned who also insists on talking to you incessantly. I just find that after consuming certain substances I love everyone around me and get verbal diarrhoea so I apologise to those I have annoyed the crap out of and thank those of you who have been patient enough to put up with me for a while.

It depends. I invariably hug loads of people when I'm off chops but I'll ALWAYS talk to them first, if you don't connect on some conversational level then I won't go there. Just walking up to somebody and sticking your arms around them is a bit of an invasion. Of course if somebody really cute tries to hug me I generally won't turn it down! And ultra sweaty gurner hugs can be gross.
As for kissing, I'd never usually ask, it's one of those things that just happens when it's supposed to I reckon.

im a friendly enough person, but when some stranger plonks themselves down next to me and starts yapping my ear off or tries to spread the love by wrapping their sweaty paws around me, i get grumpy. i am not there to listen to everyones blabbing, im not there as a hugging bag. if they were to come over, introduce themselves and strike up a converstaion, fine, but more often than not they talk talk talk or ask for hugs.

i go for the music and more often than not to spend time with my friends.
