From all accounts from techno lovers all over oz that I have spoken to, Dave Clarke has torn apart every city with his unique style of turntablism, musical taste and his "amazing effects machine".
He stormed Perth and blew us all apart, what are everyone else's comments?

Insane! He was tweaking dem dials like a madman! Frenetic is the way I'd describe his style - good to see something a bit different every now and then. Awesome night. Pretty good turn out to the old Chevy considering GK was on the same night.

Dave Clarke was the bomb!!!!! The amount of turntable trickery and sampling was amazing. The guy is pure genius. He absolutely devasted the dancefloor and was something a bit different to see......Ade Fenton was impressive also

I saw Dave Clarke in Sydney on Saturday night, and It was great to see him smiling, enjoying himself and really getting into it. He was even singing along to the words of his Depeche Mode remix! So different to the last time he was out here, some 4 years ago, when he was doing the 'moody DJ thing' all night.

He was really performing, entertaining, and was technically and musically inspiring and absolutely awesome! That would have to be, one of, if not THE best techno DJ set I've seen/heard/experienced over the last 12 years.

He was certainly doing some amazing things with the decks and mixer, he only had a Pioneer DJM-600 and 2 decks to play with here in Sydney. I heard he also had the Pioneer EFX-500 in Perth, and another deck?... I loved the way he was sampling loops from records (into the DJM-600) and then layering that up with, and cutting between 2 records on top as well... and how fast and rhythmically perfect was his transformering, scratching etc etc... he makes it all look so easy! love those sarcastic 'im so bored, this is so easy' expressions, followed by a cheeky smile, as the crowd goes nuts...

He played so many new killer tracks, that I'd love to get my hands on... and some awesome older classics... Hey... does anyone know what that track is he played, that sounds similar to, almost like a remix of 'step to enchantment (stringent)' by Jeff Mills, although I have a feeling this track actually came out many many years before 'step to enchantment (stringent)'.

Cheers TECHiONE

sorry can't answer the last question, but yes he had three decks in perth, as well as the effects box. however, the only time he touched the third deck was to pop on a punter's troll doll and send it spinning! quite amusing and almost got a photo but it fell off, damnit!

whilst he may have been seen to overuse the effects in perth, the more i think about it, and the knid of guy he is, the more i think that he was almost showing a dismissive arrogance about the device. it was almost like, yeah, i've got this thing here which many of you will be familiar with and this is what it does... a whole heap more than anything you ever thought you could do with it!! and at the end it was probably like... yeah, so that's that, bring on the three decks for the rest of oz....

thoughts?

Heard he rocked it in Sydney, we've even got ITm-tv footage of him in action!!!

My friends in Melbourne were blown away, Ade Fenton also blew the Chevron's rooftops off as well.

Ummm, sorry but I gotta disagree here. I thought he completely overdid his set and was very disappointed indeed. I've never seen such self indulgent crap from such a high profile dj. We all know what a djm600 can do cos everybodie's doin' it - it's nothing new. He was messy and out of touch with the audience imho and i'm surprised to see so many give him so much credit. It annoys me somewhat to see ppl give blind acclaim to someone for no other reason that I can see other than because of who they are. I thought Kazu and Coyle were leagues ahead on the night which is not uncommon these days, locals outdoing the internationals. I know Dave can mix well because i've heard it but that night in Melbourne he did not. Want to hear someone cut it up check out DJ Maestro (think he might be going under another name now tho) Prototype 2 in Leslie St last year. Now that's class.
