Can some people out there in ITM land recommend some good prog tracks to check out? I'm particularly interested in stuff that sounds dark/moody/almost evil or stuff that has cool unusual sounds through it...esp big fat bass lines. Maybe an acid type sound to it?

Check out stuff on Sumsonic Records, all deep prog and Addictive Records.
That's all I know of :)

Dont know about Addictive, they tend to licence slightly more overground stuff about a year after it was originally released.

Try these labels:
Fire
Hope
Hooj (used to be trancey but they are releasing some wicked tribal stuff now)
Baroque

marty, progressive is a genre of dance music. as for infected mushroom, they're hardly progressive. they're known for making wicked goa/psy trance. a whole diff genre to progressive house and trance :)

the definitive top quality progressive label used to be HOOJ. But the scene is huge now....a million labels out there, and fine gems on white ones :)

Since you're the one going to buy stuff, so you have to like it, i suggest you go to online stores like plastic fantastic, juno, and hard to find records which all list the new releases and have sound bites of them. Also, familiarise yourself with the producers u like or dj's with a certain sound- like Diggers with his deep prog sound of GU019, and go to your fav vinyl store...say what have you got that sounds like this?

But then if you're just asking us so you can download tunes, thats a whole diff story :) My current fav prog tune is Minimalistics "Struggle for Pleasure".
Deepest darkest tune I've heard lately is Digby and Olivers "Oracle".

polecat - that minimalistics tune is definantly a killer - sasha played it on new years eve and it stole the show!!!!!
you dont happen to have it on mp3, i have been looking for it all over the net and can only find trancey versions, not the progressive number - i would really appreciate it
