This is my 3rd serious relationship which has been going for just 2 years... my last one was the longest being 2 1/2 years..... however i hope this one lasts forever

3 years 11 months and 12 hours.
Mine is about 4-5 years, 4 if you count the happy fun times, 5 years if you count the shit year that we broke up got back together broke up etc.

im good friends with all my X's you get over all of that.

I've got this 8 month barrier that i just cant seem to break. :(
I was with my partner for 6.5 years. I met him when i was 15 years. We broke up nearly 1.5 years ago. We still talk & are good friends. But their are still too many deep emotions to get over , especially since neither of us have found anyone to fill the void in our hearts.
I learnt that there is no point in being in r'ships this long unless you are willing to make some sort of commitment cause most of us stay in for a long time because you become comfortable & your best friends then lovers more.

mine was 1 year and 2 months, but he was from the country so we only saw each other like once a week anyway. There was a time i didnt even see him at all for a whole month.
We are best mates now:)

I didn't see my ex for at least 7 months after we broke up.
Started seeing each other as friends. It took a long time for me to 'seriously' get over it.
We are really close now and I just adore his girlfriend. Plan on hanging out with her quite a bit when he is overseas.
The funny thing about the entire situation is...that her ex boyfriend which she also dated for 3 years hangs out with all of us.
So you have me and her and both our ex's (of which we had 3 year relationships with) and her ex's new girlfriend.
My ex had been my best friend for 3 years. I was always going to (eventually) try and see him as a mate.
Of course it was hard in the beginning, like really hard for me and when I first saw him out with other women it crushed me...but I got over it.
I think it's great that we are still friends and that I get along so well with his gf. :)

Hate to burst your bubble but I think I might just win this one. I was with my ex-husband for a total of 18 years - 11 of them married. Of course that makes me about 120 years old!:-0 I try not to see our time together as totally wasted as we do have 2 great kids. I should have left the relationship a long time before I did but it is harder to do when children are involved.
I think the thing I learnt most about relationships after my failed marriage is that communication is absolutely essential and also compromise.
Good luck to all of you in your current and future relationships. There are no guarantees in this life but the things that are most worthwhile are the things that you put a lot of work into.

but seriously, thats a pretty fucked up way to end a relationship. despite how my online persona comes across, i'm too nice to a girl when it comes to relationships and as such I usually get used for it, or taken for granted. that girl usually then goes out with a few other guys before coming back to me with a "i shouldnt have broken up with u blahblahblah" but sorry, once someone fucks me up they never get that respect back again. i fall too hard to quick and yeh, girls can tell that and once they do, ya screwed.
longest i've been out with someone was 2 months on, two weeks off and then 2 months on again. i wouldnt say i have had a relationship with anyone, as that sort of time isnt something u had become really close to someone in and as such is not a "i love u" type deal. i have a problem with falling into lust.
bluesteel is showing me the way tho, he has words of wisdom in this department, even if he does come across very harsh on the forums ;):lol:

It took a lot of effort to start off with, but it was well worth it. I am friends with all of the people I have seriously dated for a long period of time (bar one), and I am not talking about week/month long relationships.
I don't get jealous of him, nor he of me dating other people. We know each other so well :lol: we help each other through stuff and we ear bash each other to our hearts content...
We still, however, three years later get mistaken as a couple as we are so comfortable around each other, even though both of us are well and truly over it.
Unless they do something terrible, if you liked them enough to date them, I don't think they are worth losing as a friend.

unfortunately this was a really long relationship, and he lied for so long and i feel like such a dumb fuck for not realising it. the most depressing part is that pricks always get away with it.

Yeah - I know how it feels man - it sucks to be deceived for so long by someone..But just think of it like its not because your stupid, its because you obviously didnt know the "REAL" him at all..And again thats not because you never made the effort to get to know everything about him (not to generalise - but chicks usually do, espesh if they love you) because I daresay you did, but he has obviously gone to the effort to hide/disguise who he really is on the inside, and like I said - guys dont generally change, so any relationships he has in future (at least with anyone unfortunate enough to love him) will turn to crap, once the chick eventually finds out who he really is...TRUST ME - guys like that invariably end up hollow,empty,lonely people...He didnt get away with it..You cant escape who you are...;)
