you are always hearing people talking about their comfort foods especially celebrity chefs on cooking shows, and i was just wondering what yours was?
mine would have to be a big plate of pasta with a tomato, garlic and basil sauce, or a plate of antipasto with cheeses and olives etc
what food makes you feel better?

- anything spicey (so hot it burns your mouth and you can't breath, yum!)
- roasted or stir fried vegies
- anything with melted cheese...mmm
- ultra fresh bread (by itself)
- chocolate
...actually come to think of it, any food makes me feel better so long as it tastes good.

potato potato potato - don't care how it comes as long as its a potato
I also read in some stupid magazine that people who eat lots of potato are lonely, so that made me sad and so I ate a packet of chips.

Figures that another kiwi would relate to that one ;D At least you can buy them here too, it's one food I don't have to get homesick for. And how good were their advertising campaigns?

Pork or baby back beef ribs. Piled high on the plate and drowned with quality barbeque sauce, torn apart and eaten with bare hands. Wearing a bib is optional. In fact, the eating of such delicious fare is made all the more satisfying when you are wearing more sauce than you ate.
I don't know about comfort food, but as far as hangover cures are concerned, there is a take away shop in the food court below my office building that has what I describe as the big fuck-off breakfast, or instant heart disease, whatever.
For $6 you get on a massive plate, a bed of hot chips, two fried eggs, two fried rashers of bacon, two sausages and hot baked beans poured over the lot. Gravy is optional but recommended. Sends a hangover packing.
I also find an 800 gm t-bone very comforting.

Word to that Phats, NOTHING beats a monster greasy fry-up with all the trimmings for a hangover. Getting smashed on business trips rocks for that reason, 'cause the hotel usually has a breakfast buffet that you can stuff yourself with bacon at.
And yep, ribs and srteaks are the shit :p

Very similar to my normal diet. Curries, hot stir fry's home made lasagne (if I've got nothing better to do).
Lazy food for me is usually a stick of spanish salami, like the one I'm eating right now. :-D Honey Buzz Yougurt is another lazy food along with canned currie sauces when icbf preparing ingredients.
Try to avoid naughty foods but can easily be seduced by BBQ shapes chilli kettle chips etc.
Err yes. I should probably stop wasting time and go to bed so I can get enough sleep and be capable of dancing all night...

It's Korean.
It's a chicken soup dish, pressure cooked whole with onion, ginger, garlic and other stuff that only mum knows (gotta get the recipe). The chicken comes out really really REALLY soft. Then you mix some boiled rice into it and fresh shallots to finish it off. Salt and pepper for flavour.
It's the BEST for a cold winter afternoon when it's raining.
OR
A really well made gourmet (with big chunks of beef) shephards pie.
OR
BOOST JUICE!!! (All berry bang) ;D ;D
If I was really immature I'd think that sounds naughty
*in a very small voice* I don't feel like eating...

Fresh figs, strawberries and ohmygod fresh raspberries. Especially when someone else is handfeeding them to you. Nothing more comforting than that, let me assure you.
