I think hippies are right-wing and show all the signs of budding fascism. I used to live with some in Eltham. They used to eat all my food, but hoard their own.
When they left they took all their stuff (where'd they go? UP NORF of course, in their BUS, with the DRUMS they made themselves at BYRON at the 2 day DRUM-MAKING COURSE) plus they took some of my stuff too.
One of them came in one day and introduced the other to my house mate. They said, Hi my name is bodhi.
My flat mate said, right, so where's doyle?
AND THEY DIDN'T GET IT.

Hmmm i don't know bout fully blown hippies, but alot of people call my mum a hippie, because of the way she dresses sometimes and because she burns insense, collects natural crystals, hangs sarongs on the roof over her lights...wants to paint their modern day unit starting from the ground floor up each room being a swirl of rainbow colours, she wears to work a ridgy didge retro colour flared dress that looks like an outfit from Austin Powers and also believes in reincarnation...she doesn't smoke pot or try to save the world and doesn't smell yukky :p

i Like hippies, although i have never gone for all the dreads and wierd clothes and people who are fake hippys just to follow a trend, i sort of like the hippys with money and jobs if that makes sense...
I also dont go for the whole Byron thing.
The ones who live a healthy lifestyle, their heads together and into all things a hippy would be into without being a feral or an over the top hippy..
My dads a hippy but just lives a alternative lifestyle of doing his own thing, he is not a feral!!!, he used to own a health food shop in Byron but sort of gave it away when Byron started to get to popular errrrrr, he is a food technologist and makes or creates food that is in supermarkets for hippies and owns a bakery, SO i have a small amount of hippy in me but im far from a full on hippyl!!!

I've come across plenty of conformist, capitalist people who smell plenty bad my friend... plenty bad! Actually most of the people I've met that smell bad probably fit that description! :) :D :P :lol:

Hippies are alright. There are worse things that a person could be doing than plaiting their own armpit hair and making tie-dyed organic hemp bedsocks. They also deserve much cred for sheer consumation of psychadelics- there are people in Nimbin who haven't come down since 1967, bless em. Although I find their avoidance of all things deoderizing and devotion to questionable foods like bean starch and tofu and carob *shudder- bad memories of the easter that mum decided to go healthy and gave us carob easter eggs flooding back.. oh the horror* a little worrying.

I prefer people who don't play the bongoes. And as for what you said, I prefer people who don't constantly whinge about 'conformist, pro-capitalism' types, when they are happily persuing their 'alternative' lifestyle being funded by the dole. If you want to live in a tree and knit your own yoghurt, then fine. Just don't spend hard working peoples money doing it.
