View Full Version : John Ferris + Nervous - hope u read this!!!
I love u guys
Alot of people have been giving u alot of @!#$ lately, they are no doubt fucked up people as many of these subjects on this forum show. So i assure u to take no heed of these fuckers and play those awesome tunes that u play. Both of u have conributed most to this scene more tha any other people i know of and u are both behind the best moments of my life - and i write this as some sort of inadequate thanks to u both for these great moments. U r both professionals and no doubt these fuckers dont bother u, while many are contributing to their pockets, u guys are contributing to the scene and giving many people a small bit of joy in their lives and no doubt they thank u as much as i do.
Trance/techno/progressive house/hard house - THESE ARE A PART OF OUR BIBLE - NERVOUS AND JOHN FERRIS ARE OUR PROPHETS!!!!
SEE U ALL FRONT ROW AT TRANSMISSION

Completely agree with you - they are both fantastic and contribute to the dance music community more than any other promoters in Sydney. They rock - I'll see you @ Transmission too - upfront - dancin' my arse off.

Cheers man, I really appreciate your support. It's made me happy :)
TRANSMISSION!! YAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Only 4 days to go....
so because some people don't get into the music they play we're fucked? sorry but that comment was fucked.
i have never read a statement in this forum (okay, so i haven't read them all) that in any way puts these dj's down. yes there have been comments that nervous is a crowd pleaser and needs to get his hands out of the air and on the mixer, but these statements ARE justified.
just because you obviously enjoy these guys doesn't mean we all have to.
liley :)
Of course not. I'm not a huge fan of Nervous's DJing but I love the parties he puts on and I respect the huge following he has. I wouldn't worry about that comment too much liley. If you remember, vrrrlj also stated that John Ferris had 'raped his mind'... Enough said??

Nervous looks gay. No wonder you think his a babe.
i opened this topic for discussion because i want to support nervous and john ferris so get fucked!!! If u want to bag them take ur ass to a different forum topic and leave this one for people that appreciate the conscious effort that these guys make to improve the sydney scene... not to mention the sweet ass tunes that they spin up every weekend!!

I'm reading and thanks. I'm very happy when people get into the music especially when I'm in the same room and DJ'ing. Good to see others also think there has been some unneccessary dissing going down and wanted to respond. If you don't like what myself or Nervous do, doesn't mean you have to tell the world do you?
With so much discussion about anthems, Tiesto, good vs bad DJs I wonder whether a way to solve the issue of crowd pleasers and (especially with trance) is to have a one hour set (say at plastic) and have a guest DJ play the anthems set each week at the same time each week - 3am? That way everyone can have and enjoy one hour of guilt free anthems (some may call it cheese and others call it good dj'ing). In this context I mean trance/techno type anthems Darude to Delerium to Dumonde.....just one hour.
What do you think?
Then the club (and the DJ) can return to its new tunes.
cya at plastic and transmission
john
Yeah but it ain't techno Johnny boy!!! So stop calling it that as you are insulting a genre of (real) music by lumping it in with what you guys play.
I also find it funny how all of you guys(especially Vrrrrlj - grow up buddy we can post what we want :P) lap up the good comments but any criticsm and you don't want to know.
Also don't you get sick of carrying Simon's ass all the time? Why don't you just tell him to pick up his act? I mean the guy is seriously bringing you down, I know of so many people that have lost all respect for you because of this. Your good John, he sux. He is a good promoter yeah but DJ...hell no!
All it does is make you look like you guys are lining your pockets, and don't tell me your not because i know how much it costs to put on parties (so don't jump in and tell me otherwise Ben!). So my words to you are enjoy it while it lasts because before long you'll all be old news
The revolution is coming!
@!#$ your revolution james. Who said we are all gonna follow?
John and Nervous forget about these wanks. I bet if they saw you face to face they'd be wiping you arses with their faces.

To all the Ferris and Nervous haters - do better and get where these guys are, achieve what these guys have - then you have the right to diss.
ok liley,
we all know that you are an industry member, and that you probably know everything there is to know about the industry, but ...please.... just let people have fun!
i know that nervous dances with his hands in the air, but that is what i love about him... that he actually gets into the music, and i know that i am not alone in this thought.
when Paul Okenfold came out, no one commented that he jumped around like the original energiser bunny, and said it was dumb... so where is the difference?
just some food for thought!!
Good one, Chronic!!! Those were my exact feelings too.
he doesn't look like he's getting into the music to me. you should go and see ken cloud play. his eyes are shut most of the time because he is so focussed on the music.
or phil smart, who gets so stuck in the track that he forgets to mix in the next one! okay so this isn't a good thing but it is very funny to watch.....
oh, and i am not an industry member i just have good friends who are so i get free stuff.
Glad you like them - that is your perogative. I am being nice and not bitchy when I say this, but go and spend a few years in London and I PROMISE you it will change your views on the Sydney DJs forever - you will wonder what you ever saw in these half-rate DJs... that is honestly not to bitch about anyone at all, one day just do yourself a favour and go and experience the real clubbing scene where it's all happening over there. :-)

if u bitch about nervous with his hands up, u definitely should be bitchin about paul oakenfold. he hardly mixed tracks together which means he showed no real dj skillz except for the track selection. all he seemed to do was stand behind the decks and get every1 ready for the climax of a song.
plus, the thing was supposed to be so drug free, with the 41 undercover cops, 100+ security and normal police, but alcohol was not allowed on the top floor, alcohol was turned off @ 2:30am, and by the end of the night there was approximately 4312034898234902893842 water bottles on the floor.
plus, oakenfolds stupid cowboy dancers must have popped about 10 pillz each b4 they danced like fools for 3 hours non-stop. cheez-e.
ok, well thats my bitch.
keep up the good work ferris and nervous.
like the song says,
paul knows what is what,
but he doesnt know what is what,
oakenfold just struts,
what the @!#$!
KT London is the clubbing capital of the world (apart from Ibiza), where all the superstars are. Of course they all have top skills in London because it is so competitve up there.
Plus who'd wanna listen to Aussie Djs when your bound to hear a superstar Dj which ever club you go to?

James, you almost sounded like you made sense but in true form to what really lies beneath is that you seem to have an agressive tendancy. Are you a Techno purist?, do you religously listen to and worship Underground Resistance, is Jeff Mills your god DJ? Did Kraftwerk invent Techno or was it built in Detroit - Motor City?
Being anal about the correct terminologies for musical genres is exactly that; ANAL.
To get stuck into John about Simon, What gives?
John Ferris was playing even when I was undergage and going to clubs and parties. And that my friend was well over a decade ago.
He amongst other DJs influenced and inspired me at the time. Where were you dancing in 1986?
If John Ferris has lasted this long then I'm afraid to correct you but he's 'stood the test of time'.
A father of 2 lovely children, a family man and a guy who works 9 - 9 Monday to Friday and slogs it out in sweaty clubs for the rest is a pretty admirable person in my books.
Be a little more mature and employ some intellect rather than simple and childish slurs if you're going to seriously attack someones character. You might even sound respectable oppossed to making a spectacle of yourself for all to read.
James,
Light'en up a little. If we all start arguing about what 'techno' is and what it isn't then we'll get nowhere. Only in the last 4- 5 years has the term 'techno' been reserved for what you call 'real' music.
Before that time, everything was 'techno', you know, as in 'technology'..
A before you start passing value judgements on musical genres it might be prudent to think a little and remember that your opinion or anyone's in that matter, is not necessarily 'THE RIGHT ONE'.. It's just that, an opinion.. So, go and listen to some 'real' music and leave everyone else to enjoy what turns them on.
john, i think everyone in this forum respect you and what you have done for the australian dance scene. it is nervous who needs to get his @!#$ together.
he wasn't bagging out john ferris. i think james respects what he has done for our scene. but i agree with him in saying nervous i giving him a bad name in circles outside plastic/sublime. i have heard plastic described as the gatecrasher of australia. and that wasn't meant in a nice way.
no offence to anyone who likes this club but it has gone beyond a joke. giving out recovery capsules at the door? selling glowstix? come on guys, focus on what important. the music!
soory, i just read what i wrote. i really wasn't meaning to pay out people who like plastic, just seems to me that it is getting worse and worse.
what clubs in london do you like?
have you ever been to plastic liley??
IT'S CHEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mixed,
I bet you go of your nut to cheese in your bedroom where no-one can see you do it.
I think you "feel the beat" don't you ?
(Just kidding Rumsfield dude !)
liley,
You make a lot of sense, but I think you're missing the point.
The fact that Plastic would be compared to Gatecrasher in any sense of the word, I'm sure, would please John and Nervous immensely. For all it's (GCs) detractors, it has at least as many people who love it (if not more). There's constant press in the UK on the good and bad of the Gatecrasher phenomenon.
It all turns out to be money in the bank and the same applies here in Australia.
If by playing fairly mainstream (by underground standards) popular tracks, you can fill the club every week and make a tidy profit so you can feed the family and put petrol in the car, wouldn't you choose that?
The alternative is to play more 'intelligent' music and please the purists - but half fill the club as all the part-time clubbers won't keep coming back every month or so.
Fuzzy have known this for ages - to run a successful club night, you have to walk a very fine line, pleasing two very distinct audiences, those that go out every weekend and are very knowledgeable of the scene, and those who just go out for fun and don't know the name of any tracks or care who's DJing - they just like the music.
As for focussing on whats important - for promoters, it's focus on the money, because this is a business and if they don't, they won't be in the business for long and we won't have any clubs to go to at all.
Ahh, Andre - ever the voice of reason.....but I'm still wondering if you've ever been there liley.
Drey, I always miss the point! But I'm glad someone thinks I make sense :)
Sorry, I guess a purist.......
Well, being a purist is fine, and yes, you probably are, but there's no reason to apologise for it. This is probably getting a little too 'touchy feely', but I think there is room in dance music for everyone - as long as it is recognised that it's not a crime to play 'popular' music to a crowd who doesn't really care if it's 'good' music or not - they just want a good time.
It's actually quite funny if you look at it from an everyday, 2DAY-FM listeners perspective. To them, there's actually no difference between whats being played at Plastic or Tweekin, it's all just club/dance music.. Taken on that larger scale, I wonder why these arguments always errupt, as we're all really on the same side!
where? plastic? yes. last time was to see timo maas.
I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are Nik Fish...
If you know so much about techno, then why don't you play it? I agree that perhaps James gets a little offensive, but his opinions are something that I always tend to agree with. DJs like yourself, Nervous, John and Pee Wee Ferris, Bexta and Jumping Jack have all risen to the top of their game. 10000s of people worship you, which you must get pretty stoked about. But since you have this status, you have to realise that you have a responsibility to educate crowds and not just pacify them with the same stuff they are used to hearing. You have so much power in your hands, what I am saying is that you should be more creative with it.
The reason why you don't is because $$$ has you all by the balls and you are too afraid to be adventurous. And another thing, in 1986 James and I were fingerpainting and listening to Cindy Lauper.
Techno is a bastardised term that was actually coined by Jeff Mills or Derrick May (I can't remember) in an interview with The Face magazine around 1989.
Fair enough - my point is that I don't think anyone genre of dance music can REALLY claim to 'own' the term techno due to it's heritage.
It's a moot point anyway, so I'm not going to argue it any further.
And did you wear a disguise in case anyone recognised you entering a house of disrepute such as Plastic?*
*No offence intended anyone - I have no problems with Plastic at all (well, most of the time anyway)
Yes well i do apologise for the previous comment and obviously some things were misunderstood, so....
I do respect John, very much actually. I am just curious as to why he has alligned himself with Nervous? Even you Nik must be spellbound by how far someone of his ability has gone...but then isn't that pretty much how all of the Sydney scene is? (as in the @!#$ DJs get ahead)
I am not a purist either, I like a hello f a lot of styles of music including non-dance. I just find it insulting in some way that they call what they play techno.
yeah but Dom, everyone here has to ask why our DJs aren't in the same league???
Are they held back HELL NO!
They are complacent, lazy and greedy. If they had true dedication then you would see Australian DJs touring the world rather than being an embarrassment that they are when the internationals tour here.
i chose not to choose life i chose cheese (nervous)
