It's a decision that so many of us have been debating over and over. I have pretty much come to the decision to go along with wherever my friends will go.
I think if you have the right mindset you will enjoy any of these parties.
Mobile Home - obviously big lineup, location location location, lotsa people. Will finish pretty early though. Had mixed reports from last years, some thought it was totally brilliant and the night of their lives, others thought it was too packed (esp with people who wouldn't know Carl Cox if he fell on them)
Astrofunk - If the price was a little more reasonable compared to the others this would probably be my choice. Pnau and Sonic Animation plus at least some techno and tech-house presence. Oh and a 10 minute walk from home is very tempting.
Welcome 2001 - the one everyone seems to want to bag. I don't really understand that as the venue is really comfy and easy to get to (last year it was 20 minutes from Central to the venue on the train). The lineup, whilst small has a bit of something for everyone. Wondering how many stages they will have though.
I will probably go to Welcome2001 at this stage, unless some fab private party comes up, but if anyone wants to give me a ticket to any of these I will be more than happy to go.

Mobile Home last year was undoubtedly the best night of my life...and my drugs didnt work! The crowd was electric, buzzing, smiling, loving and beautiful to be a part of! The music was good...but to be honest I was having too much fun being part of history on Bondi Beach to appreciate Carl Cox. This year will be a little different... Sasha is the king...Voted no. 1 dj INTHEWORLD!!! and Pete Tong is fucking brilliant aswell and the weather is going to bless us also (I have "high" contacts) You cant beat Bondi Beach, in the middle of our Summer, BEST djs in the world, with the most fun loving unpretentious crowd!!!! If I were you, Id get my ticket before they go up! See you there!
i think nathan said it best when he said it's all about friends :), so i think you should ask them (assuming you have some ....oh be nice :) , but if i had the means i'd be down in melbourne on the docks. I've heard so much about these parties and they look fantastic, i mean come on, they've got a ferris wheel for crist sake cool'a'mun'do if you ask me. I will get down there one time but not this time, i'm going with my friends to mobile home :)
ps: a friend of a friend said that mobile home tickets went up to $130 ? can anyone confirm this?, i believe it's bs but it'd hate it if i missed out on the $80 tickets only to be stuck with a ludicrous $130.

Besides these big parties, I hear on the grapevine that there is going to be a smaller sized party on one of the old dis-used wharves on Sydney Harbour with the Finger Lickin' crew from the UK (I think their breaks???). Does anyone know anything about this? And chog-e, big doesn't always mean better!
juicyfruit
yeah i know that big isnt better..
its just that my last year BYE was a fizzer.. *(
and i feel that the night sky.. stars and sand..
will be a perfect setting .. not to mention
beats and like minded ppl .. for a great NYE party..

if you were to speculate...
there's already a lot of new years parties
there's a house solution planned with no dj's
the rumour is that the finger lickin crew are playing at a warehouse by the harbour
house solution is at a warehouse by the harbour...
well anyway, who knows.
saw the fingerlickin crew in london (and they come down here often)... fuckin good breaks dj's.
Mobile Home has a website? Whats the addie?
surprisingly, www.mobilehome.com.au
the information is quite limited, the only thing i learnt is which rooms the djs are playing in. Assuming it goes 8-5, which is 9 hours, i'm guessing (hoping?) 3hrs each from tong and sasha, and 1 hour each from the other 3 djs.

Unfortunately Sasha is playing NYE at Melbourne as well, so I don't think we'll see a 3 hr set from him. Here's hoping Sasha proves me wrong!!!
Honest Opinion???
Bondi last year - The vibe there was pretty awesome, 15000 people having it large is not bad...........BUT,
There were a few things that @!#$ me last year.
1.) If you are like me, you like to be able to see the DJ, and last year you could not. They were on the second level of the Pavilion, way up there and i couldn't even see Carl Cox.
2.) The sound system was average at best, i know for a fact that one of the big speakers was distorting and because it is outside, it isn't as loud as it should be.
3.) It was freaking cold last year and windy. This was just bad luck, but who is to say that it won't happen again. What would've been good is to have been able to wear shorts, and end with a day in the sun, but this was not to be. This, no one can help.
4.) The party last year, ended at about 5am. If this is to be repeated it is definitely not worth it. Being close to residential areas, it is understandable though.
He're is my overall opinion for the night, i'm not saying it was bad, but it could've been a lot, lot, lot better - this might change this year perhaps.
Besides, i am one of the only people who can say that they saw Carl Cox on the Millenium Eve, now that isn't bad.
If you want my honest opinion, I'd propbably go to Welcome if i we're in Sydney, but i'm not, so quickly get your ticket to Welcome 2001 in Melbourne, where we get to see both Sasha and Diggers for 5 hours (hehehe).
Hope this helps - but also you want to be with your mates on New Years Eve
Hmm, that certain friend wouldn't happen to be a Mr Luke Engle would it Ofeo? :)
LOL!!

bloody hell!!!! where do you guys get your info from??? (Mostly, it's wrong and just rumours) But Juicy fruit, would you like to let us know where you heard about the Finger Lickin' crew from? Nobody should know about it! But I suppose somebody has let the cat out of the bag... Yes, we've got the whole Finger Lickin' crew (4 DJ/producers inc. Soul of Man) coming out to play a small non-advertised invite only NYE for about 500 people on a wharf - it's all just a bit of fun for the Finger Lickin' crew and us! Now you know!!!
fuzzy crew
And which fuzzy member should be sucked up to if I want an invite ????
