Im with spokeydokey on this one :)
juniper berries, of which are infused post distilation in the production of gin, giving its flavour are actually depressants.

I reckon it just depends on your state of mind, your personality and most importantly - your atmosphere. Being a long time gin drinker, theres only a few times I can remember getting all melancholy and d+m. The majority of the time if Im going out or whatever, I have a fucking blast. But then again, I reckon I feel wack pretty much anytime I sit at home and drink (no matter what I drink). Does anyone else have any thoughts on whether different types of booze give you different types of feelings. I agree with spokey, nothing finer then a gin and juice on a warm evening. Absolutely delightful :-O

another thing bootytronic (nice nic by the way), and i am being serious here, please think about drinking while unhappy, a broken toe taught me never to do that again
alcohol is a depressant and will make bad go to worse
please be well ;D
and i hear a drink of water is good before you go to bed but i usually pass out before i can lift the glass ;)

Sudden thought!
If I distilled (nay, double-distilled!) fuschias, would it make me happy?
i luuuuuurrrrrrve my g & t's :)
It doesnt make me melancholy at all. Quite the opposite.
Ive heard that gin can trigger miscarriage, and something about a bottle of gin and a hot tub for unwanted pregnancy :?
I think rye (bourbon) makes you a retarded egotistical dickhead.

Glad I could be of assistance...
If you double distilled Fuschias you would probably get less flavour - depending on the still system you decided to employ...

Ooh love a bit of Tanqueray. In fact there's a full bottle waiting for me back home.....maybe its time to knock off work.
How did Gin ever get such a reputation?
I enjoyed many a G and T over this weekend just gone, and not once did i feel melancholy or sad... admittedly i felt quite sad on Sunday, but i wouldn't attribute it to my beverage of choice...
Its all in your head.

So true, but booze is a depressant.
Most things can be said that "its all in your head". I remember once getting pretty lashed on a friday night fairly quickley and then woke up on saturday at about 11am. Started drinking that day at 2pm, drank for about 8 hours that day and there was no way I could get drunk or even tipsy. I just felt board and really tierd.
Your current state of mood affects everything you do whether it be booze, drugs or even a smoke.

I disagree, Juniper berries inhance the depressive effects of alcohol, consequently an exagerated effect of depression can be experienced when drinking gin, say in comparison to another alcoholic berverage eg. wine.
Physiology and state of mind do play a large role in the scenario.

Let's do a quality analysis of different types of gin (for all the gin afficionados anyway). I reckon the best is easily Tanqueray, and the best for a more reasonable price - Vickers possibly tied with Seagrams. Any differences in opinion - and reasons why?
Yep in terms of sensory attributes Tanqueray is the dogs bollox, I would probably put Bombay Sapphire above Vickers and Seagrams, they are all pretty much of a muchness at the lower end of the market, ie. higher alcohol volatility, poor distillate quality...

Yeah but dude - I was talking about price wise ;) . Sapphire is around $38-40 whereas Seagrams and Vickers can generally be gotten for under $25.
Cool, you could probably include Gordons in that little line up then...
I LOVE gin
Seagrams is all good for cheap action and for the slpash out gin
Bombay Sapphire
Has any one heard the old wives tail about the DIY abortion.
A glass of gin in a warm bath does the trick

Hahaha me too...It involved a chick doing a handstand with an inverted bottle of Beefeater  NASTY
not a big gin drinker.
more a vodka queen
but ive found that while im ALWAYS happy and laughing on Voddie no matter how drunk i get, red wine is a different story
I hit a certain point of advanced drunkedness and the smallest thing can set me off and i become a crying wailing "youve never lovedddd mmmmeeeeeeeeeee" kind of person
its quite frightening
