Looking for some guidance - after a big trip to India fell through, I was getting used to the idea of being stuck here for 3 months. I now know that I will go mental, and will need to get away. I have enough for 1 month somewhere in SE Asia, as I can only afford about a grand for the flight. Last summer I was in Thailand and Vietnam for 2 months, and was thinking of just going back to Thailand and hitting up a ccouple of islands.

BUT I feel like I should head somewhere else, not waste time backtracking. What is Cambodia like? Enough stuff to keep me amused for a month? Any good beaches?

Planning trips..... what I love to do when I really should be studying....

Obviously everyone, like myself, thinks cambodia is a hole and has never been there.

Cambodia is great but a pretty big departure from the wonders of Vietnam and Thailand, well except for Ankor which I highly recommend!!!!

I havent been to the beaches in Cambodia, actually I have only been to a small portion of the country. Due to the UN represented election in '98 prices for food, accomodation, transport and pretty much everything make it an expensive destination compared to Vietnam and even Thailand.

I reckon you could see all the worthwhile places in Cambodia in under 3 weeks. My advice would be to fly into Saigon or BKK and go overland to Angkor via Phenom Phenh (if from coming from Saigon), spend 3-5 days then head to the beaches of Vietnam or Thailand.
