View Full Version : Trance Track Names?

Ever wondered how artists come up with names for their tracks that don't actually have the name said in the track?
For example, Overdrive by Scot Project has the word "overrrrrrrrrdrrriiiiivvvvee" said throughout the track, same with "don't runaway, please stay" in Alphazone's Stay, so those names are logical. But what about tracks like Paul Van Dyke's "For An Angel" that has no lyrics, and more so how did Ron Van Den Beuken draw the name 'Timeless' out of his track and Matt Darey's 'Nocuturnal Delight'? and Hennes and Cold's 'The Second Trip'? That one's really abstract.
You get my drift, any thoughts?

theres a version of for an angel that has singing in it... as for the others, no idea... maybe hennes and cold came up with the second trip cos it was the second time they had done acid and they decided (whilst smashed) that they would come up with a track and dedicate it to their second trip... :tripping:

i know this might sound stupid but when i have just written a new melody i listen to it and it sorta says sumthing if u know what i mean. thats how i name my tracks
Yeah it makes you wonder what they were on when they titled the track.
Especially tunes like: Drugface, Heavent Scent and Cream?

I think it may be a personal attachment to the song, where they may have been inspired by a certain thing or perhaps it's what they get from the song personally when they listen to it. I know when I play around with tracks I usually get names from what the track says to me (you're not crazy queanbo )
Alternatively, with second trip, it has two major breakdowns, the second being the most prominent. Perhaps the name referrs to this being 'the second trip', or something along those lines. I'm sure we could debate over naming of tracks and how it relates to the content of certrain tracks for hours (much like critics do over artwork.)
Most tracks that I've put together come with titles like:
"WHAT THE FXCK?"
"BAD MOOD TRACK"
"DRUNK TRACK"
etc..
Some people are just more creative :p

 @ bad mood track!
That's a top name for a track, haha, luv it!
I'll post a link to you when I get my main machine back up. Its dark, evil sounding. Its more of a loop than anything and no real structure.
Most of the stuff I used to produce is hard house shite, mainly coz its easier to put together :p (waits for a flaming) *BAM BAM BAM BAM* *Cheesey synth riff* *BAM BAMBAM BAM* etc :p
Workin' on some trance tunes atm which currently are currently going to be named along the lines of "SHTZ FXCKED UP COZ THE STUDIOS IN BITZ" etc.
I just found one called "holyfxckwhatwasion.wma"

I 'write' from my emotional state, and that often gets incorporated into the name..... kinda like queanbo_booner said.
