Dj School - Sydney
Hey first post so go easy on the flames

i used the search but i couldnt really find anything that helped me

i recently bought some new equipment
denon dns 1000s
and a pioneer djm400

after some research of the forum it seemed like a good beginners setup

ive been muckin around with cd's plus pc mixing software for a while, but ive gotten to a point where i should go to a few dj courses

this is purely just a hobby for me which i love although I have a full time office job which requires me to put in alot of extra hours plus travel a fair bit, so whatever spare time i get (not much) i like to mix and sometimes record my mixes

what im looking for is a good, no bullshit dj school which i can actually learn something from and ultimately give me some direction into what i can do in my own time to get better and better

i am fairly familiar with the equipment, beatmixing etc but all this stuff i have learnt myself through practice at home

i live near the city and the one in leichhardt (run by djwarehouse) looks fairly good and the guys in the shop seem to know their stuff, although just wanna gather some thoughts

i would also like a rough idea of how much these courses cost

i think mayb dj courses are a waste of time. The money you plan on dropping on a course, spend on

a) music
b) good headphones
c) earplugs (important)

Keep recording your mixes, and go to every gig you can where a dj whose style you like is playing.

just my 2 cents.
Pimpin records daily. Check it....http://www.inthemix.com.au/forum/sho...d.php?t=214804

If you can beatmix, its all practice and creativity from here on in.
I agree with spending the money on decent cans or monitors.

the headphones are HD205

and the djm400 came in the pack that i got, seemed like quite a good price, and read some good things on here about them

any reason why you ask that? its not gonna fall apart on me is it lol?

it sure as hell won't fall apart, but they're expensive for what you get.

nb i don't like pioneer very much.

ahh k well as i said i got it for a really good price

i was advised against spending alot on a mixer, so it was either that or something else much cheaper in value

mixer RRP is around 990 i think but i paid less than half that

that's a reasonable amount then... personally I wouldn't pay more than $400.
