Pioneer CDJ-200's
Well,

It's time for me to start thinking about what path im gonna take, vinyl or cd.
I've decided that it would be far better for me to go cd-players and having said that i'm looking into buying some 'Pioneer CDJ-200's'.

I've seen them on sale for $849 in australia, I can't afford to pay more for the 800's or 1000's.

Basically, I want to know if they'll be fine for me being a newbie. Will I be kicking myself in 1yrs time after i've progressed for buying these cheaper yet still expensive alternatives from the top end CDJ's in the beginning?

What are their strenghts and weaknesses?

Peace,
Nicky P

they're not top end CD players. please understand that. the CDJ 800 and 1000 are still better units.

they should be fine as long as you don't abuse them.

u could nab 800s for 900/950 bucks and the difference will be well worth it. try searching the forums, there has been many threads on this topic lately.

ok...
JB Prices

CDJ200 - $650

CDJ800 - $850

Extra $200 - More Excitment, longer lasting interest in cdj'ing...

CDJ200, as said before, cannot be very creative with it, appart from looping and driving ppl crazy with cheezy fx...

end

I've got a cdj-200 and I'm very happy with it. I can't scratch on it, but I couldn't care less. I prefer it to the 800 simply because it allows pitch increments of 0.02% (as does the cdj-1000) as opposed to 0.05% on the 800. I find that makes a real difference. Call me lazy, but the less corrections I have to make mid mix the better!

well they're not. keep saving buddy :p

you'd want at least Pioneer cdj-200's or maybe try and find some 800's second hand. or some denon s1000's.

i played around with one.... for the $900 they were asking (i think that was it) i'd rather spend a bit more and get the vestax player, or the S3k.

the platter had a friction that felt and sounded like rubbing paper over those carpet tiles in offices. really bad. otherwise, EFX and usability was great.

I made the silly mistake of buying a cheapish stanton cdj..... "to see if i'd get on with one"

To this day i still kick myself when i hear how shit the quality of sound that comes out of it is...

Like everyones been saying the cheaper ones are cheap for a reason you'll only want to upgrade as soon as you start to use it.
Hence, i'm currently saving up for a cdj800 or cdj1000.

Are you serious? You struggle to find them 2nd hand for that price. All JB's ive been to won't really budge under $1000, even if you are buying 2.

ive gotta a cdj200, they can be picked up much cheaper than $849 even not from JB. it does me fine ive got two turntables as well so the whole not being able manipulate like vinyl isnt to much of a bother. i am saving up for a 1000, the additional features and differences are much better. at the time though i was desperate to incorporate cds and all i could afford was a 200.

if you can wait and save do it, if you cant dont... simple, in a matter of months you will want an 800/1000 i can tell you that much.
