Yeah - I've got a mismatched set. Not the end of the world, but sometimes I think it would be nicer if they both had similar -8s. One of them seems to be able to go about 2% slower than the other.

I still mix aight.

Oh - I thought you meant mismatched in terms of the pitch control.
But yeah, I've also got a 1210 and a 1200.

it's supposedly not that hard to recalibrate if the quartz drive is still A1, I had a mate who used to do it, til he hooked up with my sister at my wedding and got her pregnant and then was dumped after mutual restraining orders were discussed.

Wish I got him to do it before that all went down..Bummer!

Anyway, the recalibrate instructions are out there somewhere in google land, and another episode of Jerry Springer tomorrow.

I love the M3D's. I like the pitch reset button that you can just slightly grab for quick fixes in a mix. I never seen any mention of this model here in Australia. Someday I'd like to bring them over here...just worried about the plane ride for them.

btw if you guys wanna cheat, you can always buy the black/silver/gold chassis for your decks and make them look pro/amateur/scratch-dj-extraordinaire and mix and match.

i'd love to have a hybrid set of decks with different target and strobe lights, gold bits and pieces.. gotta get around to it one day. requires work.

^What? Really? I've played M3Ds in at least two clubs here (the Bunker and Ruby Rabbit, from memory).

I know - I even paid someone to do such. They didn't quite come back that way though.

Oh, and Dave, my mixing's actually getting better by the day - whenever I'm not a lazy ****.
Otherwise it's trainwrecks for all!

My 1210 was bought off some dodgy bastard that repainted them with really shit spray paint. Worst paintjob ever (and why you'd ever need to paint them, I don't know)!

they were sold in australia while out.... there are quite a few floating around.

people call them mk3's for some reason though, which they're not, the mk3 was only released in Japan i believe.

No. Bracko is correct.
The Mk3 is a different model again (not that it actually looked any different to the Mk2), which was Japan only (as with the Mk4 and Mk6).

M3Ds were sold here 'til about a year ago. Their retail was actually less than the Mk2s - my understanding was that there were some cheaper parts in the tonearm assembly or something.
My mate just got two 1210 Mk5Gs for $1000/pr in perfect nick. Sooo jealous of the bastard.

yeah 300 is the standard 'good' price these days for 1200's.. but if they in good nick and 1210 they go for a bit more..
i'm going to have to pick up my second one for 450$ which is a bit rich but i CBF to wait and got such a good deal on the first one.

I don't remember what part it was exactly - something had a different assembly, thus allowing for the retail to be around $100 less than the Mk2s.

edit: just looked it up - a cheaper pitch control assembly.
TBH the blue search light on the MK5Gs annoys me, but they're still hella sexy.

If any of you guys want your Technics serviced on the cheap, send me a PM.

I fix about 10 Turntables a week at work, and can do them in my sleep.

Common repairs are tonearm swaps, pitch faders, target lights, output cables, drink spills, tonearm clips, the list goes on.

Not sure how the M3d pitch assembly is cheaper? There are more parts in it, and the complete board assembly part definitely costs more to buy from Panasonic.

Ps. I have a mint 1210 m3d that I'm thinking of getting rid of.

I've gone to some gigs and one of the Technics was normal plus 8 and the other deck was plus 16, that was errrr fun. This was before Mk5G's came out too.

Oh and fuck floating pitch controls.

I've been thinking about doing some turntable repair tutorials on YouTube.

I may use them to cross promote my band.

What do you guys think?
