45 RPM 7" Record Carrying Case
what's up? so lately i've slowly realised my collection of 7s has been growing, and i'd like a proper place to store the little buggers...

problem is, most of the places i've found that sell them are overseas, and while i wouldn't be breaking the bank paying for it, i always prefer not to pay six times more for shipping than i am for the product.. doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

so i was wondering whether any of you other vinyl purists out there know of places you can buy these in australia?

http://www.oldies.com/product-view/PC545.html

^^ specifically, that's the kind of thing i'm looking for.

This is from a reggae forum I check:

"Be a while.... anyway just letting you know we got some fine 45 cases in (crafted lacquered plywood finish) perfect for that guest spot of an hour or so as they hold around 120 45's

...we still got plenty of reggae on wax to, and still ordering regularly.

cheers.

Licorice Pie Records
249A High St
Prahran
VIC 3181

Tel: 03 9510 4600"

Though that was from July last year, so not sure if they'll still have stock, they were going for $80 I think.

thanks heaps for that dude!

if anyone else hears of anything, i'm still well keen to hear it in case this one falls through =)

totally, sold out at that store but. bum.

i think it'd be funny showing up to a gig in australia with a box of old school 45s only.. most of the crowed would probably ask you if you had your stethoscope in there.

don't they just look like old school medical bags?

Makeup cases dude. They're the right size mostly and there's squillions of them around in opshops.

that's the one. They come in standard sizes and one of those standard sizes fits a 7" record perfectally. They're usually sturdy contraptions too.

I've definetely seen guys at the Beach Rd Hotel (downstairs - they play a lot of funk) with cases for their 7s.

Yeah I just use shoe boxes and plastic tubs from $2 shops, would be nice to have something with a lid and handle though. I might have to look into these make-up boxes as well

^5 for the love ot the 7" 45s...I too am amassing a nice collection, slowly but surely, and would love to find a dec price case for the little bugger...bump this up should you stumble across anything good, with pic if it's one of the mentioned make up cases, so I know what to look out for!

Found just the other day for $3 each...

Herbie Hancock - Rockit
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Deee-lite - Groove Is In The Heart

...freaking bargains!!!

OH YEAH! I'm gonna become a wedding DJ later in life who plays on 7"s!

It's amazing how they hold their sound quality...my copy of I Feel Love, 1979, so it's 30 years old this year, sounds fucking MINT! Show me a CD which still plays in 30 years and I'll eat your hat (my hat's too nice to eat, ya see!)

brain freeze or product placement are still the equal winners of best sets using solely 45s i've ever seen.

Might sound stupid, but check out your local opshop. People will quite often drop their oldschool vinyl collections, along with their carry bags. Iv seen 70's styled 7/10" carry cases at a few shops around melbourne. Gotta be quick tho!

From the way he's flicking it - I'm assuming it's the cue switch of the mixer
