PVH Bunker Podcast

Recorded live recorded live at Kiss & Tell in Brooklyn on October 6, 2010. Peter was in Brooklyn to DJ at The Bunker and agreed to do a special set of the New Beat music he was so influenced by for Kiss & Tell. What resulted was one of the most entertaining and floor rocking sets we've heard in a very long time.

Peter is playing at Dommune tonight, from about 10:30pm - 12:00am Japan time, so that'd be 11:30pm - 1am on the east coast of Australia.

Was giving the latest T2E Ep another listen and it is far more impressive now that I have listened to a lot of what is considered 'A' grade Techno in between.
Right now, its my favourite label.
Get on it.

While I'm not a huge fan on Donato Dozzy on his own, I can certainly appreciate his productions and am really liking this collab with Peter Van Hoesen.

T2X just released a whole host of tracks digitally. 13 or 14 odd tracks I believe previously only available on wax. Some awesome tracks. Worth checkin if ya DJ in the world of 0's and 1's.

Stereo has developed a very annoying habit of bringing out one very good to excellent act, surrounding it with underwhelming shite and then not giving sideshows.

Hopefully the Creamfields/Sandwell District experience represents a turning of the tide for the sideshows anyway.

Marco Carola and Beyer, who are rumoured to be part of the Stereo 2011 line up, don't really add a $ of value as far as I'm concerned.

i think he was saying given how well the sandwell gig went that maybe it allows it to happen again.
as in it was a good thing.

I get that but the hate towards Stereo is a bit annoying, I'm probably just being oversensitive. I'm starting to understand how danjuan feels on this forum.

It's probably no secret I work for Hardware, and really stuck my neck out to make the SD show happen. That wasn't a money maker by any means, and there's no way an act with their fee and their profile would've made it to Australia without coming off the back of a festival.

A Redshape sideshow would've been great but sometimes schedules don't allow for it.

Believe me, I agree with you.

Redshape and SD weren't booked because they were going to sell 5,000 tickets.

If people hated less and supported the sideshows more we'd get them at the festival AND in a club.

the choice is often festival or nothing (and sideshow if you are lucky). think about the economics of it.

A club tour would be feasible....yes it would be more financially viable for a festival but it's certainly not the only option.

you are kidding yourself. the booking fees for SD + airfares from europe are a shitload. it would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to lose money on.

i don't have any hate for stereo or any festival per se.
i won't go to them though.
i've been to many, and never once enjoyed it particularly much; even seeing some of my favourite acts.

i don't care enough anymore to go to one in the hope that i'll have fun.

if pvh is at stereo i won't see him.
if he does a side show i will.
if he's at another festival i won't see him either.

i'm ok with that.

It is always put back on the punters which is really bullshit.

If you want decent sideshow turns outs at venues with capacities that will enable you to make money on touring artists you need to give people notice.

As cool as the last minute announcement can be there is no doubt that it limits the numbers of people that can go.

Why don't you get really creative and do something like canvass the support for an act like Redshape/Sandwell District before signing them to tour? I am sure that the community for this sort of thing is actually small enough for a promoter to effectively communicate with an audience to get some idea of the support they can expect for a side show.

I am sick to death of hearing about how hard it is to tour acts when promoters run their business like its amateur hour and never, ever change they way they operate.

Promoters are sometimes a business who write off massive $ touring Saunderson & Derrrick May which drew about 15 people to Creamfields Australia wide; and sometimes are altruistic and tour acts out of the goodness of their hearts at essentially $100 - 130 for an hour of the heaviest bass rumble you can get out of the shithouse systems uses for Stereosonic (& Creamfields), etc.

Not going to turn this into a heated debate. I was just commenting from my personal perspective because I work for a festival company, I care about Techno and I'm trying to do the best I can from within the limitations of my role here.

pomrocks - why didn't the tour earlier this year end up happening?

Good to hear, trust me i deff understand the fun trying to balance acts that you want to book and are passionate about vs acts that will draw a crowd & pay for the event. On a festival scale (espec in Aust) thats no easy task.
