greetings friends! i would just like to ask 2 questions:

1. Is the DnB thing here somewhat of an 'electronica genre'?
2. When did this dnb thing started?

DnB was an eventual break-away from the UK acid house scene which all began in the mid eighties. From acid house, breakbeat came about, then jungle and from that, dancehall ragga. Due to the unpopular association ragga had with 'undesirables', music moguls developed what they labelled as Drum and Bass. Dnb began to hit the UK mainstream in the mid 90's.
(this is the most basic of basic explanation to the 'existence' of DnB. i suggest you look up the rest as DnB and all that mixes with it ie: jungle, dubstep, dancehall, breaks, tech etc, are full of the most exciting and innovative sounds, ideas, musicians and dancey people around!).

drum and bass doesn't always rely on electronica- there are many ways of developing the sound.
