I bought my ticket last week but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet! In the meantime, Hernan himself has put my name on the guest list (he found out about my wedding anniversary!) which i can't believe. What shoud i do now with my ticket which hasn't yet arrived but has been paid for?

Silly me, just realised my tickets were emailed to me! But still have the same problem of having them AND being on the guest list!

What time will Hernan be playing?

Was here early, very few people. Left, came back, still not packed. Everyone outside chatting. And I'M the one being unsupportive! Just thought it was normal protocol to inform patrons of set times!

Ok Canberra, I admit I was a bit skeptical but you are delivering the goods and hernan hasn't even started yet!
The drive back to Sydney tomorrow will be horrendous though! Great way to spend my wedding anniversary. Hernan said he'll be playing at around 1.30, delays!

Great set by the local dj before hernan!

you too Di great to finally meet you

was totally glued to the dfloor from the moment he dropped the first track. That first half of the set was absolutely mindblowing, he really knows how to make a soundscape and build a journey. Close to my fav of the sets ive seen him play.

Massive cheers to the punters for your patience with the endless Quntass delays, and apologies to those who couldnt stick around

To be honest i was listening to some old metrodance sets before i arrived, your know from 05-06 when minimal was a big influence but he was still able to maintain a flowing beat...

....i wished i had had stayed at home or atleast brought some mp3s with me so i could be amused while waiting... waiting.... wainting...

The warmups, well, they had no direction, just a mishmas of tunes, which had some meaning individually, but u gotta pick up your game when u are supporting a god. The last half our was solid though, gotta admit that, just as hernan did. (but dont act like he was sitting around listening for hours, he arrived and hit the decks 15 minutes later, you know, when the dancefloor started to fill..) Maybe it was because the DJs didnt know what time they would be playing till, i was on the dancefloor 'making the best of it'? When hernan came on, things picked up instantly and he started to tell a story, but i was spent. after seeing him start at 8PM at Musica in a proper nightlcub, run by a proper promoter in Sydney last year, well with those 'visuals' and PC speakers they pass of as a soundstage at trinity, it was never going to compare to the dark, melodic, haunting journey he took us on that night.

<<NOT a sunday sessions regular. I came to see >Hernan<, and i left mightily disapointed and hungover for work at 9am.

PS. i think peekz was the only persont that night who actually told me a estimated set time. the door staff s******ed when i asked what time he would come on >>>> *middle finger up* <<<<

PSS. one of the nice men at the bar has a tendency to return $5 as change instead of $10.

I can tell you right now anyone who told you Hernan's start times was guessing ! Blaming the promoters is totally unfair. They did the best they could with a very bad situation.

As for the warmup Djs, they didn't know either ! They had no way to know how to structure their sets , they had to fill in time they didn't know they would have to fill in. I think they just did an a outstanding job of playing great music.

As for you pictorial example, hasn't any one ever told you that is all about the music . Not the lighting, not the room , it's about a great Dj sharing great music to loyal fans. !! Sorry you weren't able to share the joy with us.

The set he played in Canberra was possibly my favourite set of his tour. Melbourne was hometown so that was amazingly special in lots of other ways.

I was a lil hard on all of us who warmed up, not knowing how long we'd play for because of the Qantas delays. Not knowing if Hernan would only be ending up playing for 1 hour or for 3, or for him to be playing to no one at all.
So you gotta think about that when complaining about not hearing a proper 'story' in sound during the warmup sets. Its hard to keep Canberra punters happy with all those things in question.

Personally I was quite happy with how I went considering all those stresses (I played an hour and a half longer + 3 hours later than originally intended) & my only regret was not recording it.

I think Effigy & Pang handled the situation as best as anyone could considering it all, im not quite sure why your comparing a Sunday Session @ Trinity bar to to a large venue in Sydney on a Saturday last year...?

The night panned out way better than I was stressing out that it may have been.
Mega props to all the punters who stayed around so late on a Sunday

Weqster, If you understood the week I had prior to this gig, you'd understand why I played an unprepared set.

This isn't Melbourne either, the gig isn't sold out prior. The role of a warm up dj in canberra is to get people on the floor and start dancing, and not to play tunes that invoke anticipation. There wasn't much to work with, although the crowd was good - it wasn't heaving and bursting from the inside.

Fourthy warmed up very well.

Yeah Weqster obviously the promoters made the best of an unfortunate situation, and comparing Sydney and Canberra gigs is an apples and oranges comparison. Canberra clubs will never compete with Sydney on setup, but I've had so many nights in Canberra that put Sydney gigs in the shade because they're smaller, you're right on the dj, and your in a club full of your mates, in a much more chilled out environment. And visuals are completely secondary. Seems your night was ruined by the hiccups caused by Qantas which is a shame, but as Di said it's not fair to blame anyone involved in trying to put on an awesome party for everyone else's benefit. Promoters probably made sweet FA from this after all.

Chrisye, There aren't any prog events on the horizon in Melbourne at the moment. It was looking good earlier in the year.

had a sweet night! how often you gunna see a dj of that calibre in such a small club. had a huge smile on my face throughout. such a smooth and fun style of house

he did look exhausted though, and it was a pity he could only start around when he should have been bringing it home. had to leave before the end, too exhausted // things getting a bit feral on the dance floor

After all this time , this is still in my memory, and one of the reasons is this track . It just sounded so amazing in the club !

http://soundcloud.com/darksoulprojec...mise-dark-soul

Now darksoulproject is going to give it away when he gets 2000 likes on facebook. So if anyone else has the memories I have please feel free to "like it." I want this track !!

This is weird, I actually hate facebook But music comes first !!
