Festivals are not for everybody. There are some good acts coming through this town doing club gigs occasionally. But what floats your boat? Is it a boat party, on a train or a plane, an all night rave?

I have a few ideas about what I want to do but I am looking to see if they line up with what the ITM crew are looking for.

Lets hear it. Stop lurking, start posting!

Boat parties are great fun. That said I don't really mind festivals, I've kinda learnt to just ignore the douchebags, and 90% of the time the acts I wanna see are on stages that aren't frequented by said douchebags, especially when I come back to Adelaide for festivals (I always prefer Adelaide over Melbourne for festivals).

It's a lot easier to go out during the day/afternoon. I've become soft.

Yeah but for example Deetron is an awesome DJ and from what i have heard played to the 20 people on some side stage at stereos. Not much in the way of atmosphere.

Deetron played on the second biggest stage there (could probably fit 5000 people in that area).

Unfortunately only 50-100 people were there. Prob 1000 there for Minx before him and similar number for Crookers after

Villalobos played to a similar number the year before (I heard somewhere he hated it, called it one of his worst ever gigs), but then Plastikman had a nice sized crowd at Future this year. Sometimes tho the small crowds make it great tho. Josh Winks set at the very first Future Music Festival in Adelaide was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Carl Cox, Huntermann, Felix Da Housecat and Princess Superstar all on stage with him having a ball playing to a crowd of less then 50.

Villalobos at Stereos 12 months ago was a bit better, as smaller stage amongst the trees. However it was 40 degrees, middle of the afternoon and he had 2 decks and I think a mixer all crap themselves DURING his set

No wonder he hated it!

Plus we're down to Earth here in Adelaide - don't take kindly to DJs who think they're rockstars!

I think adelaide needs a proper warehouse techno party. No international DJ, just locals.

+1 for warehouse. No complaints from me if we were to have an internatty there though.

Anyone have a relative with a dirty unused rave space?

My dad has a giant depot out at Wingfield on Hanson Road, It's pretty much all outdoors tho, its across from the dump, so absolutely no chance of noise complaints. Not really a warehouse tho...

About 5 years ago me and a mate did a party up the top of Greenhill Road, 180 degree views of the city, we even had the cops show up and let us stay because apparently it was fine as long as we left no rubbish and had no fires. It was a giant headfuck to setup tho.

The old theatre off Arcade lane in the city is a decent empty space.....was used during fringe for stuff (Al Mac had a show in there)

^^^ bit of a weird room that one though I think, due to the tiered cinema style setup and the entry right down the front. Worth considering though *ponders

I now have an internatty coming early next year who is well worthy of creating/finding a unique space to host the show!

would love to see another inner city car park show, but the chances of that happening would have to be minimal, let alone the logistics of having to bring in light, sound, your own bar stock, etc... would be proper mental to fund/organise.

The City Council are a wee bit more receptive to these sorts of things nowadays. Especially if you can include some crap about 'activating laneways' etc. Like the one that happened between Harris Scarfe and Adelaide Arcade, a party in a blocked off alley could work, at least from a permission point of view.

I'd love to see an Acid Rave / Old School Techno gig go down! There was one this year with the carters and HMC playing and it ruled.

Robert Hood / HMC were great last year - more like that!

Something proper warehousey would be dope aswell!

I agree with reconnect aswell - pretty fun time to be had

although it is a weird space it would entirely depend on how many people you'd be expecting. we had a lot of gear setup down the bottom as there were 2 live acts plus a whole setup for the visual stuff.

if it was purely a dj setup then they could possibly be setup on the first or second tier with the bottom space left entirely as a dance floor. that space is surprisingly big. one side of the tiered cinema could be used for seating too

there is also a space next door that is the same size so a 2 room party could be a winner. in that instance you could probably put drapes up to stop people going up the tiers if you wished.

the only real hassle with the space from my point of view is that it's a big concrete box and therefore getting the sound right can be a bit tricky. we were probably a bit underpowered from a PA point of view but i had a good friend of mine who's a great live sound engineer (womad and bdo etc) set it up for our first night and got it sounding quite good considering the limitations... our second show there a few weeks later where he didnt set it up didnt sound as good

Just give me what we had 5-7 years ago! you dont need boats or planes or trains!! all night raves? Yes! remeber that forest rave that wasnt always in a forest! that was perfect. and no drunk drongos! such a perfect atmosphere.

But that isnt even needed just the club scene back then was soooooooooooooo good.(well for me) all week i couldnt wait for friday because I would go down to earth and have the time of my life! There was nearly always a international DJ for around $20, and if there wasnt it wa still banging and people were loving it!

I know what i want isnt easy because all the noobs like what they like, which is sad ;(

Festivals are rubbish, day parties suck. Need more overnighters, in cool venues with a more focused aproach.
No more Ke$ha, LMFAO, etc.

Find a warehouse venue, carpark, underground sewer tunnel, abandoned church etc. Bring in one high caliber DJ who is bound to get massif support e.g Carl Cox,Andy C etc.

One room and one room only.. maybe a chill out room for people to socialise in?

Get a supporting cast of local Dj's and producers who match the theme, we know the talent is out there.

Rather than spending all the money bringing down 15 internattys, spend a decent amount of money on Sound, Lighting and Ambience.

I think one of the problems with the EDM scene these days is that it's lost it's focus, in an effort to please "everyone" we've lost what made it special in the first place.

Surprising how popular the "chill-out" space was at Reconnect....it's always so good when a show has this kind of space & it takes me back to the parties of early/mid 90's where a chillout room was the norm. Awesome ambient/electronica being played to a backdrop of some cool visual stuff on the screen. (throw in the bean bags/blankets on ground etc of course)

and yeah pete all the parties boasted about the sound system AND the light/laser equipment as equal part of the attraction back then..

Yeah its funny with the end of the raving period you rarely see a sound system advertised as an attraction. I remember getting excited about parties because they were getting a 7W full color lazer in too.

i seem to remember having a few drinks and i'm almost certain it was an approved and licensed party.

was a big effort for them to clear that whole floor, it was a restaurant back then. setup stages, sound-system, lazers and decorations etc

i remember going up the glass lift and when the doors opened being greeted by 2 chicks dressed as angels handing out lolly-pops.

i'd need a zimmer frame and an anxiety tablet if was going to attempt a night like that these days... 21 years ago .. bloody hell
