Okay so I've been put in as jdoodle's replacement (*salute*) and I am genuinely interested to get some feedback from the regular users and contributors to this forum.

What would you like to see more/less of in the forum? I've had a few ideas regarding a few things and would like to know if you think these are feasible, or have a better idea for them

Advertising Releases/Labels/Artists
If you own a label, are a producer, have mates who are producers or in any other way are advertising someone's music as opposed to just starting a thread about a particular DJ/producer you like/wish to discuss, please consider whether it's really needed otherwise the board ends up just being a promo forum. I think that it's fair for each label to have one dedicated thread (title to be updated at the beginning of each year to correspond to the current year, rather than neeeding a new thread every year for it). Also, there is a "Your New Releases" thread which you are free to use, but please only post one press release per release.

If you want to make a thread about an artist on a certain label you are associated with, please consider whether said label already has a thread and in that case, post in that thread instead (you can ask me to edit the title if you wish to make the thread focus more on that specific artist you have just signed or has released a tune etc). If you do end up making a thread for that particular artist, like with labels, please keep all information associated with that artist in that thread.

Advertising Parties
This is a more contentious issue. Ideally, we have city forums for a reason, but, I know some users don't use those particular forums and also in some cases, there may actually be more interest for said parties in this forum than in the city forums anyway. What do people think about having a general events thread? Or maybe a general events per city thread? Or does this get too cluttered and we should just outright say "post about events in the relevant city forum"?

Techno Trivia
This was a huge hit in the prog forum. Basically done once every two months, you guys submit a bunch of questions to an elected trivia leader (I'd offer to do it but I'm not sure I have to time to keep up, so am happy for someone to ask to be in charge of that) and he then picks 5 questions for 3 rounds (one per week) and whoever has the most points at the end wins. I don't really know what you can win, other than maybe chinstroking clout, though.

Track IDs:
We have a dedicated thread for Track IDs. Please use it as it saves us having multiple threads which only get one or two replies once the tune has been identified.

An 'events thread' sounds like a good idea.

Keeping everything to one thread for labels is a good idea, and easy to manage. Keeps shit neat.

Party advertising imo should be left to clubbing chat. If there's an event related to a specific artist or label, they can post the info in an artist or label thread.... very neat.

agree with the policy on label/release threads. i'd like to see this enforced pretty strongly, so bullshit threads like this get locked as soon as they appear:

I wish there was a sub forum for all the record label/advertising spam to live in, so I can ignore it all easier. We're going to end up with 100s of threads for each and every new/old label in here.

Can we put a ban on posting in th Techno forum for a few days after the activation of accounts.

Do we think that it will stop anything...the more I think about it the more it probably wont.

^^ Nah I'm pretty sure that's not feasible in terms of the way ITM works. I think bans are just outright across the entire forum.

The biggest issue is people just not taking the time to read this thread, or notice the clearly marked "USE THIS THREAD ONLY" threads. And I really don't know how to make that happen? Most of these A&R people only ever post once then never come back, making locking their threads/banning them largely ineffective anyway since they don't really care as they've made their post, and anyone new who signs up doesn't really get the message that was meant to be delivered by dishing out punishment to the others.
