If you believe them it's to stop voter fraud and because the law discriminates against certain states.

You know, those states where the KKK has most of their membership.

Perhaps whilst spouting some of this:

http://grist.org/election-2012/crazy...racy-theories/
But we're fools if we sit back and stare at the ground
While the weasels and analysts sing
If we want our place in history, we can't let the frustration
Drive us to fashionable drinking again

Meanwhile in California, the GOP has come up with a cunning plan to prevent a Hispanic man who went through college, joined NASA, went through the astronaut training program, who then went as a crew member on board a space shuttle into outer space from winning his election as a Congressman.

Litigate against him using the title "astronaut/scientist/engineer" on the next ballot.

After all any member of the GOP knows that a Hispanic man who parents were Mexicans couldn't possibly have gone beyond the rank of "Space Janitor" or perhaps "Astro-gardener."

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with these people?

Obama killed it at the White House Correspondents dinner. Funny as fuck.

I know he didn't write his stuff but he was actually better than MC Jimmy Kimmel, who thought he was at a roast. I like Kimmel, one of the funnier Late-Nighters, but some of his stuff was Titanic-like in its sinkingness.

Not that I think Obama has been particularly great as Prez but surely Americans won't elect Romney, who wants to send the States back to the Bush years of unfunded wars and cannibalistic capitalism.

Surely it's just a matter of time before the next titanic sized Romney-Gaff tumbles out of his millionaire idiot mouth which all but kills his campaign dead.

He's the nominee now. Fox news et al are going to be marching in step - he'll make a shit load of gaffes and you'll only hear about them online, or at least only briefly mentioned.

He'll just lie about all he has planned from now until the election, and if he believes the lies then the gaffs won't matter too much especially if the economy tanks again. If unemployment goes below %8 Obama should take it home. But if Europe carks it, it will hit the American economy and might blow unemployment out again. Obama won't be able to do anything.

If Romney keeps endorsing Ryan's budget proposal, and Obama and Biden can make a few of its disastrous cuts to services stick in Americans' minds, this will also go a long way to stopping Romney.

Grover Norquist (the guy responsible for forcing every Republican pledging to never raise taxes ever again) just came out with this pearl of wisdom about the lengths the Obama administration is willing to go to win the election.

Yes he did just accuse the Obama campaign of fixing the French general election to make Obama look more reasonable.

This is basically the most influential GOP lobbyist in the USA and he is obviously 5 beers short of a 6 pack.

He might've been joking. He seems like a dour, unfunny prick if you just read him but the few times I've watched him speak he has played on his anti-taxation, anti-government stances in a self-deprecating way.

But he probably isn't joking: he does have a pretty big fetish for anti-taxation.

Well according to his wiki he does stand-up: Norquist has competed three times in the comedy fundraiser "Washington's Funniest Celebrity" and placed second in 2009. Humorist P. J. O'Rourke has described Norquist as "Tom Paine crossed with Lee Atwater plus just a soup├žon of Madame Defarge"

So it's possible he might be joking but given the serious nature of the other respondents there you have to wonder who his target audience was.

Actually interesting thought, what if his anti-taxation pledge was all intended as a troll and then suddenly all the Republicans went for it not seeing he was taking the piss and the tea-party was basically formed because most Americans don't understand sarcasm.

Oh Snap!

Michelle Bachman, Tea Party Presidential Candidate and Birther just got found out as having applied to be a Swiss citizen on March 19th.

She didn't declare it to Congress and she is on their Intelligence Select Committee. She is now claiming she is applying to cancel the move but she may now not actually be a US citizen as they allow dual citizenship only if you gain the second citizenship automatically and don't have to apply for it.

She is now claiming that she was awarded citizenship automatically in 1978 (and so failed to declare it for her entire time in Congress) to avoid having her US citizenship revoked. Good times. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

I don't think it will be a big issue. As you said as long as their dollar and employment doesn't go further south he'll be fine.

Any word on who Romney's running mate will be? Hopefully someone with some charisma to make the whole thing entertaining, as poor old Mitt looks like a stunned mullet 80% of the time.

It depends on how the polls are over time. If it looks like Obama is going to win big, Romney might choose someone like NJ Gov. Chris Christie (loud and aggressive). If it's even, Sen. Rob Portman (dour and businessman like) is tipped. Or Sen. Kelly Ayotte maybe (I've seen her speak and she comes across well, though how much she would actually help with women I don't know: her Wiki is pretty much your standard doctrinaire hardcore fundamentalist Christian on most women's health issues, she's just smarter and less rabid than Palin).

Ind. Gov. Mitch Daniels is another, but his wife pulled him out of running for Prez so quite why she would want him to be Veep is another thing.

Daniels would play very well with independent voters, I reckon, from what I've seen and read. He comes across as reasonable, which is hard for a Republican since retardation set-in for most of them.

So Obama's campaign started their first anti-Romney ads calling him out on his record with Bain Capital.

And this was the least bad GOP choice for president.

The GOP are already crying about the ad, so it's probably going to be effective.

So last week Bloomberg released a study they did on the last 50 years of the US economy and found some surprising results.

The stockmarket grows nearly 5 times as quickly when Democrats are running the country as when Republicans are. The gap is so big that if they exclude Clinton and G.W. Bush (best performing Dem and worst performing GOP) the Dems still come out in front.

Private Jobs Increase Most with a Democrat in the White House. Well it's only double this time so nowhere near as good.

For double the lols though the GOP is responsible for more Public Sector Job Growth than the Democrats. 7.1 million extra Public positions under Republicans, only 6.3 million created by Democrats.

Just for perspective the Democrats have only been in the White house for 23 years since Kennedy's inauguration and the GOP have been in for 28.

So there you have it. Their "Socialists" are better capitalists than their "Capitalists." And their "small government capitalists" are also the ones primarily responsible for big government.

Just playing devil's advocate here as I haven't read the study yet but if you work out the average public sector job growth over the time in power, by those numbers the Democrats come out in front.

GOP - 7.1m / 28 years = 253,571 public sector jobs per year
Dems - 6.3m / 23 years = 273,913 public sector jobs per year

Base615, but if we are going to start grading the results then we'd need to do the same to the private sector jobs:

GOP: 24,000,000 / 28 = 857,142 private sector jobs a year.
Dems: 42,000,000 / 23 = 1,826,086 private sector jobs a year.

So of course they would need a slightly higher number of public servants. Someone has to calculate all the extra tax revenue they are earning.

Another interesting point Bloombergs came up with was:

Quote:

Private payrolls grew by 130,000 and, for the first time under President Barack Obama, surpassed the total in January 2009, when he took office. Total employment stayed below January 2009 because there are 607,000 fewer federal, state and local government employees, the Labor Department reported May 4.

Seriously 600,000 public servants sacked since the depression began and still the teahardists are saying he isn't doing enough to cut the government budget while simultaneously trying to avoid cuts to the military budget.

This is it basically. It makes no difference how retarded GWB was and how ridiculously wrong the Tea Party is..... Obama is a muslim and he isn't even an american and he taxes too much and spends it all away on useless, wasteful stuff like jobs creation and universal healthcare.

The Tea Party is like millions of buffeds hanging out together at a rally and getting all aggro about things are aren't actually real.

And the Romney gaffes keep coming. Going to be no shortage of these sorts of articles over the next 12months....

Quote:

Mendacious Mitt: Romney's bid to become liar-in-chief
Spin is normal in politics, but Romney is pioneering a cynical strategy of reducing fact and truth to pure partisanship

Romney argues the following:

"Never before in American history has its president gone before so many foreign audiences to apologize for so many American misdeeds, both real and imagined. It is his way of signaling to foreign countries and foreign leaders that their dislike for America is something he understands and that is, at least in part, understandable."

Nothing about this sentence is true.

So the US Federal Supreme Court has upheld Obamacare 5-4. With the conservative Chief Justice, John Roberts, surprisingly splitting off with the liberal wing of the court.

I'd post a link but it's bat-shit crazy on American media sites at the moment, almost everything is related to this decision and so it's hard to parse. Slate and The Daily Beast and the Huff Post have things to read on it.

The Chief Justice made the decision not on the inter-state commerce law but under taxation law (Obamacare applies a fine to all those people who don't sign up for health insurance).

The GOP are predictably predicting the death of democracy in that country. Democrats suggesting it is a win for the American people.

Recently a poll showed that the favourability towards the law by the American people had gone up slightly. It was something like %42 unfavourable to %39 favourable, so it still isn't very popular. There was a breakdown of the unfavourability however which suggested something like %10-12 of those who polled that way were unfavourable due to the law not going far enough.

Romney says he will repeal and replace it. If Americans believe that he will replace it with anything they need to get real. Republicans have had years to try and sort out health care but since Dole, no GOP President, Presidential candidate, or Congressional Rep. or candidate for Congress has suggested anything. They only oppose Obamacare because it finally tries to do something. And Obamacare is of course the Heritage Foundation's (conservative right wing think tank) health care proposal they designed, which Dole adopted. It was also adopted of course by Romney when he was Governor of Massachusetts but who is now trying to weazel out of his support for it. Weazeling out, when just 5 years ago he was supporting its introduction federally.

Hopefully Obama finally goes hard in selling this now, because he had been pretty fucking piss-weak up until yesterday.

It's not that cut and dried.

Plenty of people disillusioned with Obama, too. Plus the usual nonsense of him being a liberal commi-nazi muslim kenyan.

God I hope the Romney-golem doesn't get in power, though. Could do without war in Iran and oil hitting $200 a barrel.
