Lo: 1am & after stupidly thinking of the past I find myself feeling kind of blue. If I was in Perth I'd so be heading out to dance this off & get smashed with friends.

Damn Rach for not having a private jet yet! I could be there before closing set too.

Have to settle for cat hugs I guess.

actually i havent had to clean one in ages! the house was stealthy clean when i got home the long weekend

the only reason i knew there was one was a) sam's note and b) the floors werent washed that well but apart from that same as i left it

none of my hosuemates have ever trashed the place (lol without me being there) so i'd be pissed to come home and find a mess

PS i never get out the good wine glasses, to be fair most of them have broken on No Way Rose nights.

Yeah, I've lost too many good glasses, now I just buy from IKEA. But I would love to have nice stuff with no risk of it getting trashed. I don't mind if my friends break stuff while I am involved! Soon I will (hopefully) have my own place lalala

Hi: I got a phonecall from my niece yesterday. She told me she is learning the drums and having dancing lessons and asked if I was coming over to Melbourne for her birthday and Xmas. Then she asked if the granny flat was messy and if my clothes were everywhere. guilty as charged. I miss my offsider.

Lo: mum having a bad week. Normally if I tell her to go lie down she argues with me but today she just said ok. She's fixated that if she did more to help Dad he might still be alive.

Some days I think I am not cut out for this being supportive caper.

yeah I know it's going to be like this for a while. I guess part of my psyche is that when people are upset I feel like I have to fix it somehow. I have to keep reminding myself that this is not something I can control and she has to deal with her own feelings.

living with cats is much easier. you feed them, change the litter tray and hope you don't get scratched.

Hi: excited about picking villa for no way rose bali (is there a keyboard shortcut to do the inflection over the e?)
Hi: off to Esperance Friday lunch time.
Hi: taking delivery of a treadmill and x-trainer next week. renting for 4 months (pay for 3, get one free). getting too dark to go out running here in the morning, not really any dedicated paths like they have in Perth and a bit too much traffic out early on for me to be running on the road (peak hour in kal is like 6am when all the mine workers go in)

Hi: Esperance trip was great. The cottages were nice. Jess dog had a ball exploring all these new places - I managed to get her feet wet at the beach, she was a bit dirty on me for that. Had breakfast at the jetty tea rooms both days. Awesome fish & chips on Friday night with schnapper that was actually firm because it hadn't been thawed. I bought 2 wicked furry kind of hats for winter. Got sunburnt and I'm completely knackered. Going back for the june long weekend!

fucking lo: I have no idea how people get homeloans and shit! I've been saving my arse off, no debt, no dependants and still can't manage to get to even the pre-approval stage. I thought my salary was pretty good, but apparently not. Looks like I will be applying for a few jobs in the next few months!

Hi/Lo: Mum was up at stupid am on Sunday morning, worried that the changeover of the clocks for daylight savings finishing meant we would have to check out earlier. um.....
Hi/Lo: She wants to buy a house in Esperance and commute there & back on Friday afternoons/Monday mornings. I assume this means we sleep in the car for the rest of the week and the animals look after themselves
Hi/Lo: I talked about my long term plan to go on a holiday to Ireland and she reckons I have to take her because her & dad were going to go there one day. She is the worst flyer in the world, she struggles just going interstate. I think I would have to go Hawaii, Los Angeles, NY, London just to break up the trip. But I guess it would save me a lot of money on accommodation!

I'm not going to bother with that. I really don't have the energy for al the stress. And they way things are, it would be a long drawn-out battle. I'm just going to take my skills elsewhere.

Good news, I've already found an advertised job I'll be a shoe in for (unless it is one of those govy jobs where someone is already in the position), and it will be a $15K payrise straight up, with salary in 4 years time at $28K above my current. It really just shows me how underpaid/valued I currently am. It's not going to be easy though, I'm talking about leaving something I once thought I was dedicating my life to.

Ah well i kinda get where you're coming from Q. Sometimes it is easier just to rule a line under things and walk away.
Perhaps easier is not the right word. But you reach a point where it's like 'fuck you, you've had too much of my time and energy for not much appreciaton' and then they cry about how awesome you are, as you flip them the bird while walking out the door.*

*ok so I've had a bottle of wine.....rough day

I can relate to dedicating your life to a career path, but at the same time it's old hat these days. And I speak as someone like yourself who has stuck it out in the same job for a long time & I'm still really carving out my own niche in my field.
I think you will find a position where your strengths are appreciated, the work is rewarding and challenging, and you won't look back**

** this is supposed to be a supportive post, but it's just coming out drunk so I'll stop now

Hi: Received my first party invitation from outside my normal social circle in Kalgoorlie. OK technically it's because someone has quit her job and started a business but still, chance to meet new people that doesn't involve community work and does involve booze and a spit roast and hopefully more people my age.
