That's it! Looking at this thread is driving me nuts, now I want to play with Legos. I really need to revisit the old attic, hmm.

And about those pictures... architects did a damn fine job.

Spent far too long trying to find something "lego socks" relevant.

This is the best I got:

This is the most common complaint about Lego, but it's not like Lego stopped making simple brick kits? You can still buy unbranded kits with wide varieties of blocks and their own made-up IPs like Kingdoms and City.

I like branded Lego simply because it ties in with geek shit I like. Like Star Wars, Batman and the upcoming Lord of the Rings lego kits.

But if your main complaint isn't with the fact that they exist and that it's more about how simple it is to construct them, then I agree with you. Except my X-Wing was actually a bit complicated due to the wing mechanism.

Will I buy a giant Helms Deep (Lord of the Rings) set and have it in my living room? You bet your hot pants I will!

I reckon the current range of CITY Lego is fucking sick. The docks and the big police station are awesome. It's not even that expensive by today's standards. The biggest deluxe set goes for about $140. I remember them costing that much when I was a little kid.

Does anyone at all remember that Lego commercial from the early-mid 90's... It consisted of a boy in his top bunk reading his book. His mum yells out "lights out ****" (or something like that). So he puts his book on this flat panel of lego, and it starts off this whole lego chain reaction with a whole bunch of toys bumping into other toys, culminating with a little spaceship running along a track and switching off the main bedroom light.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I scoured teh youtubz but could'nae find it

it was just after Star Wars lego came out that they first axed the proper Space range

and now you can't buy a pirate ship that doesn't have Jack Sparrow on it

Same. Flashback and a half

Lego cowboys and Indians was also awesome, but now there's no blockbuster Hollywood flick to appropriate it to.

Long Ranger series.
Retail went massive with it, consumers didn't - you can still find it in some retail stores.

when I saw this bumped I figured you must be talking about The Brickman Experience, a display of the work of Aust's only certified Lego Professional, currently showing in Melb, then off to Sydney.

But you're not

Maybe it could be about the 20% LEGO sales at Target, Myer and David Jones?

I just got back into Lego over the last year. I've built the Sith Fury-class Interceptor 9500 and the Jedi Interceptor 75038. And I've currently got this waiting to be built - The Tumbler 76023

there are some new Pirates set rocking the retro look. the big ship is $115 at kmart i think which is cheaper than everywhere else. I had the 'good guys' ship from the old school range plus some others, wasn't as cool or badass as the bad guys pirate one though
