The following image, believe it or not, was tkane with a 55 to 2-- kit lens sans vr, ed elements, etc. I think I got lucky with the focus as it's not the strongest point of this lens. Bokeh ain't much to write home about either

finally got thru my shots from the chelsea flower show so ill have to issue a flood warning...
(also decided to do alot of square crops to do up some canvases (: )

there were also these crazy displays. thai ceremonial arranging, i cant even fathom the timeframes and manpower to put something like that together with fresh flowers!

Your 'somethings' are very purdy
(#1 and #3 look a little under-exposed to me, but I don't trust my work monitor) -- they're still one of my favs from the bunch though.

aargh you noticed it too

they look just right on my monitor at home, but on my work pc they look slightly dull. might have to give them both a rehash! the originals were a little dark and i thought i corrected it but it's still not looking right, although with the yellow dahlia i was going for muted, buttery tones.

really happy with the composition and clarity on both of them though.

cheers zap - they look good on my home monitor too

do you know what i did though, realised last night that i uploaded the wrong version of the pink things so that explains why it looks dull my other edit was a bit more vibrant.

i did a rehash on the dahlia, just upped the exposure a little in lightroom:

So I finally made my way to Canberra's annual Floriade festival... must do it again, but not in the near-cloudless midday sun.

By then I got kinda got all flowered out while waiting for clouds to wander over, crowds to clear out, sun to set, child to stop wanting ice creams, and the poor wife with her never-healing foot needing to be pushed around in a wheel chair... maybe back again next year.
