I know you guys will cry.... but I'd totally remove the photographer and the pole from the frame (+ a touch of saturation on the rainbow) -- and BAM!

Still epic though. Well done

Some pics from paintball

Good day prospective employer, I am both smarter than a hatful of periwinkles and prettier than two bags of smashed assholes. Fail to employ me at your own risk.

Q: In a few of your shots Duncan I notice while there is a climber on the wall/rock/cliff/whatever everyone on the ground stands with their hands in the air. What is this about? Is it an attempt to catch him/her should he/she fall?

[edit] great shots by the by - love the 2nd last one.

It's called spotting. Basically you want to make sure they land feet first, preferably on the pads. There's a bit more to it than that, but that's the gist.

A couple more:

I'll pretend this is sport.... I had a lazy Aus Day this year, so I popped down to the local bowls club as they were having a belly-flop comp.

If they're boring, there is plenty of shots of the 'flopper chaperones' with fake boobs.

Do you shoot the skating ones on servo/continuous, or pre-focus?

Using a fisheye you get focus from about 30cm to infinity from about f/8. There's obviously plenty of light, so I stopped it down to about f/9 or so (from memory) then shot on AV, -2/3EV. Thus no need to worry about focusing at all. My lens is a Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fisheye, with manual aperture and manual focus, so no fancy servo AF anyway.

Cheers!
I need to play with hyperfocal distances more... whenever I've tried it, using less than precise methods, I've never been happy with the result (namely the clarity of the distant)
