Got asked by the Zombie Walk organisers/marketting if they could use my photos for promo stuff, on numerous mediums
kewl!

If only it wasn't a charity, and I could ask for mad $$!
Well, I may be able to... but would seem highly unlikely...

thanks, that was my first thought, but lately with talk of the moon i was thinknig about tele...
but i think wide is better, my wide and slim is still my favourite 35mm camera...
possibly because it only has one setting. click. but i do like the photos i get from it
so maybe wide yes
eek just checked the price on some

zomgz flickr has just updated their gallery display! Now looks like the google wall of imagery with individual mouseoverlays

it runs a bit shit & the screen goes completely white while it's "loading more photos" as you scroll down, but at least it's a step in the right direction

you should find another one of his posts that you have liked and unlike it...
anyway, i havent taken a photo in some time...
my brain has been busy with other things.
grand plans to fix my life... not really enjoying my current course
though taking photos was somethign that gave me joy that i have lost, same with music making, so i guess since i took them away from myself i have seen what is there the rest of the time, which is boring garbage...

dont know why i decided to spiel here, oh well

My first published photo, in a Japanese climbing mag:

The first I knew about it was when my friend, the subject, sent me an FB message with the top picture. Fair enough then!

Used without explicit permission, but I gave him all my pics and basically said that he could do what he wanted with them. He's a friend and if I ever go to Tokyo I'll have somewhere to stay so I'm not particularly worried.

EDIT: I don't think I explained it very well. My friend, who is in the photo, wrote an article for the magazine about his climbing trip to the US. He used that photo (and I think one or two others) of mine, as well as a bunch taken by another friend of ours. I guess the magazine would have assumed that he had our permission, and although he never asked explicitly, I basically said he could use them for whatever.

cant believe stock is still so scarce for the d800's! might help if nikon would stop making new models and actually did a proper release!

prolly not going to buy one in the next couple months anyway but still! :p

looking at some images i found this one shot with a d800 (possibly "e" but i cant remember) and 70-200 2.8
its quite large

Hold off on the d800 purchase. Problem with left focus points. Check out Nikon Rumors... Can't believe these new cameras have so many problems.

It may have been taken by a d800, but jesus christ, did the photographer step out of a time machine from the 80's?

lol tis true, but i chose it more for pixel peeping than content.

yea read that about the focus points, not sure if that would bother me too much since i rarely stray from center to half way or use bees dick dof. it does seem like the newer batches have had it fixed but this is the one of the biggest reasons i hate jumping on the latest and "greatest" wagons, completely new products will always have some problems. happy to wait till production exceeds demand and the price drops and the quality (and my bank balance) rises.

I played with the fuji x-pro 1 today. Great camera, solid build but a few nuances that would put me off buying one. Firstly EVF only at close distances - this is due to parralax error. Secondly, manual focus is fly by wire, which is a load of shit.

At this point I would be more inclined to stick to the trusty SLR. I really wanted to like the X-Pro 1, mainly due to its size and good optical performance, but there are a few issues that have carried on from the x100.

I think it warrants some investigation, but I believe they're releasing a "V" version soon. From what I've read it's not a bad bit of kit. Even the film equivalent were highly praised back in the day.

what are you looking for in a smaller system? interchangeable lenses? fixed zoom? fixed focal length?

i've been really impressed with the ricoh cameras since crk picked up the agency. i'd never used a ricoh other than my mums old compact which was pretty good for 04 or whenever she bought it.

but the menus and control layouts are so bloody good and they're quite feature rich. i love the gxr system, but it's not really for me as it can get expensive and i'd prefer to stick to an SLR. but the M-mount +zeiss ZM lens combo is phenomenal. the MF greyscale focus assist is bloody brilliant.

if you're after straight up image quality and can accept potential quirks, the sigma dp2 merrill will be out shortly. the sensor is great, the 30/2.8 is outstanding.... and sigma have said they've fixed a lot of the issues like slow write speed and just generally shit menus. remains to be seen. but the images will be unrivalled in terms of small cameras.

Ideally, I'd like a small point and shoot with fixed focal length, snappy focus, and short start up times. I hate walking around/travelling with big cameras.

I've been following the release of the merrill and look forward to reviews. One thing I'd be keen on is to see Adobe support though and quick buffer times.

there's reports of adobe support coming with the dp2 merrill but i'll believe it when i see it. first shipment in aus is quite limited and due mid august. sadly i don't think i'll get to play with one straight away, but i too will be keeping a keen eye on some reviews. there'll also be the 19mm f/2.8 dp1 merrill later in the year if you prefer wider.

they will be in line with the US $999 mark.

that 30mm is crazy sharp across the whole frame though. i assume it's roughly the same as the new 30mm for sony-e and micro 4/3. check out some samples from that coz it's a shit hot lens. so too is the 19mm.
