Common CDJ problems
Hey guys, what are some of the common cdj problems you have come across through your time?

Most common ones I come across are the cue buttons being thrashed...

Also, I have searched through ITM and found a few helpful topics about cdj repairs, but they are all quite outdated, I was wondering if anyone knows any places apart from MB electronics that do fair-priced repairs around Sydney?

I have a pair of 400's and both of the cue buttons have completely shit themself. If you tap them a few times in different spots of the button you can get it to work, but generally speaking they don't. A guy at my work told me to pull apart the cdj's and have a look myself to see if there is any dust to be blown out, but I don't want to stuff around with these because if I do accidentally stuff something I will be up shit creek when upcoming gigs come around as I can't afford to just buy a new one.

Any help or smart a$s comments to make my day pass quicker appreciated!

Buttons wearing/sticking happens, can't be avoided really...I think the most annoying thing I've seen a 1000 do was that if you have the Master Tempo on, the pitch control no longer worked, the BPM display would change as you moved the pitch, but the track would not actually speed up or slow down...annoying if you wanted to control the musical pitch for your harmonic mixing, but if not, just turn the MT off and everything worked fine

They're ****s to fix is the most common fault I've come across. Little springs and plasticcy bits and bobs. Gah! And people who use them display some misguided brand-loyalty which means that plastic toy DJM mixers are everywhere.

Cheers for the input guys.. I found out last night that the stiff jog wheel was actually a really quick fix.

Still trying to find a decent quote for the cue buttons. The buttons still click but don't always work. Anybody expirenced this in the past and had it fixed?

Ejecting helps

not sure about the installation, but hey, someone else might be able let you know how easy/hard that is

What about the cd taking a while to load when you start up the cdj?
It gets bad sometimes, I have to turn the player off and on a few times to get it to load the disc, but after the initial loading its fine.

Learn how to turn on service mode... (not the easiest thing to find online for each cdj, heres the 1000 one not sure if the same)

youtube user Paulz1265 has some things about the cdj 400 repairs.
Most issues are fixed by a quick clean. But if your like my gf when she reassembles things there are a few extra screws, nuts, and bolts left over and some buttons don't work exactly... so watch the dis-assembly videos numerous times and take your time going back and forth.
A lot of things are similar among different models so watch as much as possible

Yeh I had issues with my queue buttons, my button stayed pressed in and the actual button on itself was broken.

I purchased the replacement buttons from ebay UK, found a detailed youtube vid of the replacement, took my time and its quite easy (as long as your comfortable with electronics/system boards/soldering etc etc)

All you need is a screw driver/soldering iron/solder sucker & some solder. I can find the video if you need it?

Yeah, cue buttons tend to be the most common sufferers on CDJs. You don't need to bash them people! Or do you...?
