Since its inception nearly three years ago, it’s been our mission here at Effigy Entertainment to bring the world’s greatest artists to our humble hometown. Whilst spanning an incredible range of genres, nearly all of the shows we have run featured exclusively electronic music Producers/DJ’s – until now. Get ready for a night where words, colours and vibrations meet, as Effigy Entertainment proudly presents: Synthesis

The night will kick off with a poetry slam featuring some of Canberras greatest poets, including Ellie Malbon, Brian O'Biri Asare Jason Andrews, and Andrew Galan, host of the infamous 'Bad Slam No Biscuit' poetry slam at the Phoenix. Throughout the night you can pick up your copy of Seedproject, canberras very own art, literature, politics and philosophy publication. As the words flow into music, you will be treated to an acoustic performance from the ever talented Anna Potter (and friends), whose EP launch in 2010 was received with critical acclaim. The night then slowly evolves into the electronic realm, where an acoustic electronic fusion in the form of Gabriel Gilmour and the Gojiberry Jam will ease the transition by laying down some smooth dubby beats, whilst the violin and electric guitar soar over the top – for any of you who caught these guys at Art Not Apart or warming up for Opiuo, you know what you are in for. Meanwhile our very own VJ Caitlin Welch will be providing a visual stimulus throughout the night in which she will be showcasing her original short films created specifically to accompany our poets. As for the rest of the Electronic producers? How does Electrocado, Ryanosaurus, Will Marshall, and a Logman & Pstump album launch sound? If you were to ask us we'd say pretty freaking cool. But you can find that out for yourself by reading below for all the lowdown on some of Australias greatest electronic talent. Mr. Bill and Ryanosaurus put their genius heads together to weave flawless and intricate sonic textures, combining all of your favorite flavors of electronic music seamlessly to create the perfect dance party music in the form of Electrocado. Combining generous amounts of psy, electro, glitch, minimal and progressive, some avocado spread on top, this smelting of musical tastes is grilled until steaming hot and crunchy. The result is a tasty and satisfying meal covering a wide range of tempo’s and musical influences.

Electrocado have been performing around Australia since 2010, including a recent riverside set at Subsonic 2011, and put an emphasis on playing ‘live’ to give room for improvisation during the set. They are always keen to cater for parties with their unique dishes, so if you like what you hear, spread the word.

Ryanosaurus is the psytrance project of Ryan Whare, Mr Bills electrocado partner in crime. A curious collection of colour, melody, emotion, psychedelia, bass and stupidity all meet in a melting pot of stompy goodness. Expect to hear an emphasis on stomping psytrance with a dash of humour and plenty of good vibes. For anyone who remembers the ‘good ol days’ of infected mushroom, this is your chance to hear a modern take on those funky, chunky, days of old.

Ryanosaurus' deeply masterful production creates worlds within worlds of psychedelic dance music. Incredibly clean, deep, and absolutely beautiful sound design. This music will take you off of this planet.

Will Marshall is a psybreaks DJ, producer and hacker based in Sydney. His first EP, Anaconda / Circuit Funk, was released on VIM Records in March 2012 with remixes from Andy Faze and MartOpetEr, and climbed to #1 on the Beatport Breaks charts within days.

Will has recently signed to Warped Records, and has remixed tracks from MartOpetEr and Squeezer on VIM and Newclear Records respectively.

With an intensely cerebral style, Will blends precise, robotic breakbeats with sinuous, psy-influenced leads. Always dancefloor-oriented, Will maintains a high level of energy and focus in his sets.

Since 2009 Will has performed at numerous club and outdoor events, including Burning Man, Psylent Night I and II, Recreation for a Dream, Speed of Sound II, III and IV, Burning Seed and Kiwiburn.

Will built and maintains a popular DJ template for Ableton Live, and provides tutorial material for new Ableton DJs.

Logman n Pstump fell in love with the psychedelic sound after spending a good three years doofing. Since rocking out to some of the worlds biggest psytrance names, they've started creating their own take on psytrance. Now they've been playing sets and supporting some big artists such as Ollie Bassweight, Master of Ribongia, Dred, Buick, One Tasty Morsel, Trippy Technology, Kryptic, Jeannie, mnmlych, Jangus Khan and Choc St Claire. While churning out twisted carnage or creating a dark and trippy
mood, these guys have always kept the crowd happy. With their heavy synthesized approach to production, Logman n Pstump bring a new dynamic to the dance flow.

Logman n Pstump are proud to be releasing their first album 'Lumberjacks from Outer Space', and we here at Effigy are stoked that the lads will be using Synthesis as the album launch. Copies of their debut album will be available at the event.

boom diggity, keen as. There's been many a rant on here about punters twiddling their thumbs waiting for something to happen, and tbh we've been keen to get away from the samesame club gigs. So we created a night that is carefully programmed to evolve from the very start, and give punters a chance to see a variety of artists doing what that love.

If you are keen for something different in Canberra you should come along and check it out. If not you suck, but you should still come for a stomp later on- Electrocado, Marshall, Ryanosaurus, L&S... all fkn awesome.
