Promotor with good Database needed for a CBD hotel
Hi ,

I have a CBD venue with prime location but I need the crowd.

I am looking for a promotor looking to host events anytime of the week, specifically Friday & Saturday Nights.

Looking for a promotor that has a good following already & strong database.

Would be ideal if it was a niche genre of music or event as there is so much competetion for the Generic Themed nights in the City.

Will work out a payment plan with you.

Venue is good for 500 patrons split over 2 possibly 3 floors.

We Have had many successfull regular nights such as :-

Church of Techno - Sunday day club
We Love Indie - Regular Saturday Indie Rock Night
Urban Hideout - Regular Friday Night Urban Night
Tabu - Regular Friday Night House Event
Hause Nights - Regular Friday House Music Event

Church of Techno was pretty successful.

How many people have you been getting to your nights, by the way?

Ohhhhhhh Shieeeeeeeet.

May I just point out to you, Wowk, for future reference, there is a nod to the nobility in putting on excellent artists, as opposed to a night who puts on shit acts and gets rammed with fodder.....I don't think Church of Techno are happy to be included as an event that pertained to a 'database' success. Mr Warnaout, it's people like you, that make me cringe knowing you have a hand in the con(des)struction of dance music.

Now, I'll just go get my popcorn and come back.

On the other hand Jimmeny, he is just a guy (girl?) with a venue that he needs to fill to make a living. He has no real responsibility to the dance music scene.

how is a venue, needing a promoter who has a good database of patrons a bad thing?

how many venue owners would say "looking for a promoter to run a night, doesn't matter if have no clientele, we are happy to make no money for months in the hope punters will eventually come"?

im all for letting events/nights grow on the merits of its music, but not many venues can afford to start from zero.

Agreed, its almost as bad as people complaining when a venue has to close early due to lack of patrons. Putting on parties / running a venue costs a lot of $$$s

^^ It sounds like you don't want him to put dance music on at his venue. I fail to see the problem. If a good non-mainstream music party takes up his offer and the venue gets a bit of a following/reputation, that can only mean good things since we'd then have another place willing to take chances on smaller parties.

It sounds like? I had a mini-vent really. I think Church of Techno was non-mainstream, the rest of it was. I think seeking a database as opposed to a music style or culture is a little bit daft. That's what places like Eleven tried to do after having no faith in actual promoters or their nights - they also went looking for 'databases'. Now they're offering deals on voucher sitesfor cocktails or some shit...shame.

"Would be ideal if it was a niche genre of music or event as there is so much competetion for the Generic Themed nights in the City. "

I don't mind what gets put on, I'm not to stand in anyone's way - but it's clear on this forum, that 'niche' nights are struggling, despite the blood, sweat and tears people lose to put them on - and this guy want's to do it based on a database? It's a bit iffy.

You know what I really think, I really think you should pursue Less ‘niche’ type gigs, and look to doing corporate stuff…suits with money etc. Money & numbers is after all the bottom line here. I don’t see you having success on the back of a niche music night. Of course, I stand to be corrected, but it sounds like you've got commercial venue pressure riding here...

Are you situated around York/Clarence/Kent street area by any chance?

I see it a bit like this: It's like asking for a female DJ with large tits, and yeah, if she can mix, that's cool too....

In any case, I'm just waiting for Kzzy to come back to this thread...

Monday's are busy.. How's your night going Wowk? - Oh wait - it failed. Again I don't really need to defend my parties, anyone who has been to anyone of them have typically had an amazing time and had the opportunity to see international artist that have never toured Australia before for a measly $20..

But I guess Wowk, the man who has never been to any of my parties (and most of the other parties in Sydney, yet has the knack to talk about them all like he has been to them all - "Oh shit I was meant to go, but I was doing my PhD on how to be 27 and still live at home with my parents")

If Church of Techno was successful it would still be going..

I'm taking a stab that it's the Forbes Hotel, given they mentioned CoT. I actually quite liked the little room they used for CoT. It wouldn't work for suits etc - it's too dingy and old. It suits a small, non-mainstream music party attended by gurners.

It's definitely the Forbes. They had some hardstyle night some time back that seemed pretty popular, if it ain't broke don't fix it? But I guess the kids are too busy gurning instead of buying drinks...

Right, so it's sorted? There's about 10 of us, who will bring 50 people each and Andosound is headlining.
Our payment will be 10 x $5 drinks each.

So it's sorted then.
5 x double blacks, gonna get wasted!
I got these sick new tracks I can play also, one has vocal snippets from a movie just before a hektik drop, and the other is a dubstep remix of a heavy metallica tune.

Hi

I have been promoting FunkTank @ Goldfish for close 2 years until the launch of their new night last week. I bring a very well established sound of deep/tech house. I helped Goldfish grow to what it is today and I am looking for a new project.

I have also put on 2 successful boat parties on NYD for 400 people.

Can you please inform me of the venue (Forbes??), trading hours, etc etc.

You can reach me on 0410457117 or at djmikeoconnor@gmail.com - I would prefer an email to begin with.

Regards
Mike O'Connor

Look forward to your response

Yo!

Church of Techno isn't running weekly anymore. I'm still doing a couple of one off parties with it but that's it ... Had a really successful one just gone in Feb. That will be it for another several months... Maybe one in July/August.

My life, career, and general happiness has taken over - it's just a little fun/stress on the side.

CoT was successful in its hey days... I'll miss (and always remember) those days but couldn't go back to slamming it every Sunday again.

Likewise Taylan is still doing events but sticking to one offs.

Church of Techno, La Famiglia, Minimal Sydney, The Techno Bug (London)

La Famiglia every Saturday @ The Burdekin Hotel (10pm-7am)

It's great.

I came to the sydney forum to lol about the guy who fell from the scaffolding at creamfields. Found this instead.

Not entirely disappointed.
