well because my hips are out of alignment and the orthotics fix that. squatting with the same unaltered structure is more then likely causing me to favor slightly the left side of my hips causing problems...

Yeah I retract that after Frankos explanation anyway. I use my orthotics because of an arch problem but it occurs mainly with the constant flexing you get when hiking or running (particularly in hiking boots), I'm fine if I'm just standing with feet planted lifting. I'd feel really weird and unstable lifting with orthotics, too used to just wearing Chucks these days.
