Menno De Jong

Menno de Jong is primarily known as a DJ with an international following, though he is also an accomplished producer and the founder of Intuition Recordings. Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, de Jong was born on March 17, 1984, in Den Helder and was interested in music — classical as well as modern — at a young age.

While he took up DJing as a teenager, he first established himself as a producer with the release of "Guanxi" on the British label Anjunabeats in 2004. Later that year, he released a few additional productions: "Second Thoughts" as Sayla on Dedicated Holland, "Watermark" as Halcyon on Captured Music, and "Millionfold" as Myth on Remark Records. The success of these initial productions inspired de Jong to found his own label, Intuition Recordings. Intuition made its debut in 2005, and the second release on the label was de Jong's own "Tundra." Like "Guanxi" and "Second Thoughts" before it, "Tundra" proved popular within the trance community and was championed by many of the style's leading DJs, including Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. Successive releases such as "Spirit", "Last Light Tonight" and "Better World" followed, as did numerous remixes, yet in accordance with his rising profile, de Jong began to busy himself primarily as a DJ. He went on to perform at superclubs all over the world as well as at dance music festivals such as Nature One, Global Gathering and Creamfields.
In 2007 he released his first official mix CD, Intuition Sessions: South Africa, which showcased his label. In 2010 the second volume themed Rio de Janeiro was released, showcasing the broad style of trance & progressive heard in his DJ sets.

2011 sees Menno de Jong moving back to songwriting and studio work, returning to the production front with high energy tracks such as "Turtle Paradise", "Place In The Sun" featuring the vocals of Ellie Lawson and the more laid back "Stardust".

This is sooo sooo tempting! I'm meant to have something on that night but hoping to get out of it for this!! Menno is awesome, I really love his old school sound of late. Turtle Paradise... Amazing! Never Lose the Magic is another recent track I just loooove!

why is this a non ticketed event? bit odd for a dj like menno :s

so that people turn up to see menno and they can charge $60 on the door, and 90% of trance lovers won't have the heart to say no

They wouldn't charge 60 at the door. If I remember correctly it was still only 25 or 30 the last times i went to a majik gig (Kearney and GO).

When I saw Gareth Emery in 2011 it was a non-ticketed event. I was up in the Gold Coast and saw him, just got my name on the guest list of the club and it was too easy. Free entry too which at the time I was surprised about. I'm not sure what Majik would charge on the door bo they normally charge entry on a Saturday night?

armada nights started at something like 30 bucks and is now at 55. so only one international really should be less, as it's costing them less to do.

i will wait and see the price. going to the footy that night so have the night off work. dont want to go if its shitty price and if its same crowd as subculture, but we will see.

Really it's going to attract the regular Majik Saturdays' crowd plus extras (like us!) who are going for Menno. That would be the main reason it's not ticketed. So therefore I wouldn't expect it to be anymore than a usual entrance fee on a Saturday night otherwise it may turn away the regulars who don't care much for him. I'm thinking $20 max (although I'm not sure what entrance there normally is).

Since id be one of few fans... I hope the guy girl ratio policy is flicked, this will prob be the first non ticketed event ive had to encounter at all. But anything can happen, it is melbourne lol
