Where have either of the creators of the franchises or anyone involved with canon said they are intertwined?
The way I see it, comics did a crossover, which is extremely common in comicworld, spawned somes games and two terrible movies - in the same way Freddie vs Jason or whatever it was.

The next thing you'll be saying is Toy Story is part of A Bugs Life universe as Heimlich was in the credits of Toy Story 2.

I was about to have a rant about how this thread isn't about Alien vs Predator, and stick to Prometheus... howevvvver I just read this interesting article:

Quote:

The Space Jockey Temple You Never Saw, Except in Alien Vs. Predator

In O'Bannon and Shusett's original draft, when the Nostromo landed on planet LV-426, they find the space jockey who has clawed out a triangle in to his control panel, amidst a giant dust storm.

Once the storm has settled, the clouds part and a giant pyramid is revealed. The crew enters the pyramid and uncovers this tableau created by Giger of the alien life cycle — which you can see depicts how the Space Jockeys made sacrifices to the alien hosts.

Scott dumped the pyramid plot due to pacing, but it was later picked up and altered in the Alien Vs. Predators films where the Predators swapped in for the Space Jockeys. But instead of worshiping the Xenomorphs with alien sacrifices, they used the beasts as a sort of Predator bar mitzvah, forcing humans to hatch the baby xenormorphs from their chests to be hunted down by young Predator Warriors inside a giant pyramid maze.

Really? The advert in the Avengers said it was 3D only. I got very confused.

I like the fact they use the hologram/projection wall behind Charlise - I'm assuming it's not a coincidence and that they're "referring" to the same style of wall that was in the directors cut of Aliens where Ripley is sitting on the park bench looking out at the trees.

There's a lot of talk about comic crossovers in here. For your perusal, I present Ian's Top 5 Alien/Predator Comic Appearances:
  1. Green Lantern/Aliens
  2. Batman/Predator
  3. Tarzan/Predator
  4. Superman/Aliens
  5. Batman/Superman/Aliens

The best Aliens stand-alone is Salvation (early Mignola art ), and the best Predator stand-alone is The Bloody Sands of Time (set during World War 1).

Get involved, nerds.

Edit: TLDR - Prometheus won't be cut to lower the rating, it will be "R" in the states (so at least MA here)

Yep there's a gif of Shaw screaming in pain and her stomach rises considerably, I get the feeling that a Space Jockey / Infected crew member does some raping.

Wow looks the goods big time. Saw the trailer the other night at the movies.

When it was first starting out and these people were climbing mountains and talking about artifacts I was all like 'this looks lame' and then saw the spacecraft and shit I was like "Holy Fuck Prometheus!"

Saw a advert for this on tv, made it look so lame. No iconic haunting sound, no image of the space jockey, just inter-stellar tards saying they want to go to a planet.

Were you watching the Origin last night? They played the ad like 5 times! They probably had to dumb it down a little for the more... "simple" folk.

Yeah all reports in from my friends (and to a lesser degree, professional movie critics) claim it's somewhat of a missed opportunity.

Stilted acting, a meandering script and- worst of all to a fanboy- muddled Alien mythology, have dampened the excitement for me. Although I'll still be first in the queue like the tit I am.

Put differently, it apparently offers up a heap of new ideas that it leaves open to explain in further installments, as confirmed by Ridley in interviews.

& we're not talking about the comic-book Alien universe, Superman lives there.

I'm not mad keen on the new tentacled alien bad guy, tentacled aliens are the last resort of unimaginative design.

Still....

From what I've read, film looks amazing, story becomes confusing.

A lot of the blame is being put on Damen Lindelof, criticising him for constructing the script like an episode of Lost.

Can't wait to hear from you guys!
