Since I've passed on IF? to Sebastian Bayne, I feel a bit weird flogging my wares in that thread on ITM, particularly since some of the stuff I'm up to isn't always IF?-related but on other labels.

So I hope you don't object to me setting up this specific thread - I'll try not to over-use it and clutter up the forum, but there's a lot happening this year that I'd really enjoy sharing with anybody interested, plus it'll stop dispersal amidst other threads.

I think being over here in Japan over the past month has made me realize how short (and somewhat precious) life is - and how much we should live-up and enjoy what we have.

So, without further ado, here's some of what's been happening under the shoddy Little Nobody/Andrez Bergen/DJ Fodder/Funk Gadget banners over the past 4 months of 2011, the truly best parts being quality remixes from people like Bas Mooy, Aux 88, Justin Berkovi, Inigo Kennedy, Dave Tarrida, Shin Nishimura, Luke's Anger, Dave Angel, Mijk van Dijk, DJ Hi-Shock, Ben Mill, Cut Bit Motorz, Advanced Human and DJ Wada - all people whose music I dig and respect in spades.

This Thursday 5 May, I'll be doing a live streaming set thing @ Dommune here in Tokyo along with Shin Nishimura and Hiroshi Watanabe (aka Kaito) - I'm doing the hour from 9:00pm (10:00 in Melbs/Sydney) and it'll probably be a hack mess, but I think anyone vaguely interested o/seas can tune in.

Shin Nishimura is on from 11:00pm (midnight in Oz) and will be far more interesting.

I love it, but that flammed kick drum is giving me all sorts of issues on four decks. It's either a two deck track or a top end / mid range only track for me

Heh-heh... I know what'cha mean; I tend to be a bit wayward in my production and I like to go a bit off-kilter and self-indulgently push the envelope, so it makes it bloody hard for me to DJ my own tracks out, since I usually use three or more sound inputs. Man, simplicity has its merits... just wish I could abide by 'em.

And if "flammed" isn't a word, it darned well should be!!

As I said, it's a very cool track mate. I like it a lot!

In early August, I'm popping back to Australia for the first time in 2 years.

While Ground Loop does a fine, grinding take on the title track, replete with distorted beats, and German artist 88uw delivers a grungy-bass led interpretation, the fact that Gynoid persuaded veterans Chris Finke and Blake Baxter to remix Little Nobody is impressive. Finke's version of the title track is, as expected, a heavy tribal groove augmented by a snaking acid bass. Meanwhile, Detroit's prince of techno drops two takes. The "Recon Delay" mix is stripped back yet revolves around a pile driving kick, while the "Depth Charge" take is a galloping, drummy groove. The origial's insistent drums and intense rhythms are also well worth a spin."

'Linoleum Actress' is the third single from the Little Nobody album Hard Foiled, released back in April. It is a twisted jacking and mutant techno offering. 'Linoleum Actress' defies any real categorisation except to say it is Little Nobody in full effect.

Releasing music for over 15 years, he is currently a favoured artist of Detroit legends Aux 88. This EP sees others turning their hand at remixing him.

The Deadstock 33s deliver a remix that takes only the underlying essence of the original and creates a version all of its own in a very clever way. The Deadstock 33s is the UKs Justin Roberson’s new psychedelic disco techno moniker. In the last year or so he has begun to define the Deadstock sound which is reminiscent of both his Lionrock and Justin Roberton works, yet something fresh and uncharted.

Paul Birken is a US techno hardware boffin who creates groove and nuance in his tracks with endless routing and re-routing of signal paths. He is well respected and supported by the underground techno artists of the world such as the UK's Surgeon. His remix is an industrial techno masterpiece, which should not be taken lightly.

Lastly IF? Records boss Sebastian Bayne seems to take things into deeper territory, but is somewhat thwarted by opting to use the most upfront synth parts from the original. What comes out is a big room sound that gets mind bending at its peak. Techno weaponry.

I've got this li'l baby out today through Simon Hi-Shock's Translucent imprint - brand new Little Nobody stuff that also happens to sample a wee bit of stuff off my first LP from 14 years back...

Otherwise, production has been a wee bit on the back-burner as I promote my new novel 100 Years of Vicissitude (out this week) and work on #3, but I do have a remix for Chicago's Lester Fitzpatrick (Relief Records) coming out on vinyl early on in 2013, and a remix by Detroit's Alan Oldham (DJ T-1000) due for release through IF?
