Reading the newspaper with the heating on looking out over the water with my mum 1000km away from me is pretty much how I pictured my mothers day.

Well, we had a major meltdown mid-match (late night last night, followed by coach refusing him the goalie position, because he's quite valuable as a defender). Spent 10 minutes talking him down - "no DS for a week", etc. He yelled "I hate you" at me, rejoined the team, hipchecked a player & played the best 10 minutes he's ever played, so mixed feelings on that one.

It will all be worth it when he grows up & tells me he never asked to be born & everything I ever did was wrong though.

Trying to find that balance between being the "you ruined mother's day", guilt-as-a-weapon mother & letting them know they hurt you is a tricky one.

Mothers Day can go & suck a fuck.
