Maybe, but that ideology applies to the whole concept of breaking world-records not just this one. I guarantee you the bulk of recent "out-there" world-records (ones that relate to bizarre concepts, not regular sporting achievements for example) have been set/broken due to the pursuit of fame. To say otherwise is pretty naive!

I disagree. It's not all that bizarre. If he was trying to break the world record for most number of crayons up shoved up his nose or wearing a beard made of the most number of bees then yes I would agree with you.

I don't think anyone's naive enough to think that this is going to get them very far long term on the fame and fortune scale. And if they were I'd wager they'd also be the type of person to underestimate the physical effects on the body from being awake that long and then collapse at the halfway point from lack of preparation.

I just had a sniff around internet land and most of what i'm finding is about him starting it or attempting it. I'm having a hard time finding anything that confirms the record attempt or even celebrates the achievement ... let alone reporting on it ...

Nothing on facecrack ... youtube ... fark, not even an ITM article.
