Djum Djum is of course Leftfield before they were called Leftfield, from 1990. Absolute gem of a track! But probably predates your track.

This sample starts at about 2:48. But listen to the whole track if you like oldskool.

Yeah I thought it sounded like that as well - see post #29 - wicked track
Upcoming gigs:

25/01/14 Rainbow Serpent Festival - Sunset Stage - 1400 - 1530
07-10/03/14 Maitreya Festival

Sorry Lid, didn't see you jammed in there.

That track has always struck me a potential sleeper, with all that was mad about rave music in 1990/1991: tough beats, uplifting melody that comes outta nowhere, groovy bassline and bleeps. It really is very good. Probably best that it stays underground!

Death in June presents Kapo! - Only Europa Knows

was thinking this, and then i read trancy proggy melody - and the vocoder is sort of well off, and i doubt they would have played this on channel v. Thus ends my trainspotting career.

You sure you weren't bent over getting jammed from behind at the time? Maybe that could've had an effect on your hearing senses.

I think I'm close to finding it. Have found tracks by Étienne de Crécy and they're sounding very similar, trawling through their early catalogue now... it's the right time frame and the name sounds familiar...

After all this time. Listening to music will never be the same, always listening for me-nah-me-nah.

Not ambient and wouldn't belong on a MoS Chillout compilation but what about these two?

That sample just has to be from the Muppets - Mahna Mahna:
