One for the geeks...
Ok, absolutly stumped on this one.

Recently changed routers, hooked up the whole network.
Everything is talking to each other, great speeds, drives networked, XMBC running, sounds are grand.
Laptops, Ipad, computers, media players all linked... EXCEPT FOR MY PHONE!!!!!!

Why?

Keys match, registers the network on my phone , keeps trying to authenticate and cant.
Girls phone is hooked up, Itouch's linked... all wireless gear is linked.
Why?
Router is a Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link WRT350N
Security is PSK2-Personal with AES encription
default as default can get.

any help?
Have you checked out Marsh Media recently?

It sounds like you don't have the latest firmware to support wireless-n. Test your phone with WPA and Wireless G and see if it works.

do you allow fallback to G in your router? Sounds like you might have set to N only

it is because your router is not a billion 7800n.

now hang on, you mentioned an ipod touch? which generation? i believe the older ones don't have 802.11n, so in this case the g/n issue can be disregarded. or am stupid and itouch is something different?

e; have you looked at what channel your wifi is on? perhaps change to something else?

Any possibility you have a proxy server set on your phone for your work wireless?
(it wouldn't really explain it not authenticating, probably should still connect to the network at least )
Have you set your wireless network to G + N, rather than N only.

Your phone might already have your wifi settings saved. So delete them and try again.

Ah seems like you already have.

jabba what about changing to a diff channel? use a wifi scanner app to see how many other peeps around you are on the same one. then change to a diff one. i had issues like this at my last apartment, althought it was with my housemate's xperia. for some reason too much interference and the thing wouldn't connect. it saw the SSID but then got stuck on 'connecting'.

oh yea stay away from ch13. just from reading the net, desire doesn't like that channel.

Is it the same SSID? Maybe your phone's having an ARP freakout, have you tried 'forgetting' the network on your phone?

ok - this got me with xbmc and the android remote - make sure your username is in the correct case. Usually a username's case does not matter for authentication but with this app it does and android will capitalize your first letter.

doh didnt realize this was just a 'cant connect to wireless' question. What about WPS or the 'push button' stuff??

No dice...

Ok, none of this makes sense.
The router at work is encrypted with wpa/wpa2 psk, exactly the same as mine here.
i've changed channels, changed the freq, forgot passwords, rescanned, reset, changed passwords.
I've read I may need to get a security certificate, any idea how?

Log into router, check the settings for which wireless standard it uses. You should have options for N, N+G, and G. Make sure it's set to N+G, or even try setting it to G just to see if your phone connects then.

Most laptops are fine with N, and so is the Ipod Touch, so it makes sense that they can connect ok.

Don't think security certs are your problem.

any mac addresses getting blocked on your router? maybe your phone's set to a static IP address that the router already assigned to something else? try updating your router firmware?

failing that, it seems your router hates your phone.

OK.
Problem fixed.

All I had to do was manually add the MAC address through the DHCP, then assign an IP address and PRESTO! Porn on my phone again.

does not compute. If it was off to begin with then it would accept connection from anything

He said "All I had to do was manually add the MAC address through the DHCP, then assign an IP address." which to me says he set a DHCP reservation for it in his DHCP settings, not allowed the MAC address in his MAC filtering settings. Sounds to me like his DHCP is enabled with either no scope or a very limited scope configured.

oh right now i get what he was attempting to say.

he had DHCP turned off. And still does :why:
or maybe doesn't since he's reserving addresses.

Seems to me since you guys can't distinguish between MAC address filtering and DHCP reservations you should all be thanking me
