Why couldn't they do these races at Ascot last year - when I was there (or next year when i'll be there again)

So what? It wasnt her fault the others gifted it to her by running the race so slowly.

She'll get the 1600m easily and will give Frankel a scare, can't wait for it.

as craig williams says..."she might not only be the best sprinter the world has seen, but maybe even the best miler"

she'd win the cox plate too. i personally would like to see her stay and have a crack. we don't get too many that succeed at ascot. look at what we were saying about so you think before it went over? that it would blitz it over there (prior to him being sold).

keep BC here and give the australian punters what we want.

I doubt she could win a Cox Plate. The pressure is on early and you need a horse that can run a solid mile and a quarter, something I highly doubt Black Caviar (the sprinter) can do. Changing her preparation and trying to turn her into a middle distance runner could ruin her. I'm sure Moody is just playing up to the Media hype.

We might get to see her run once after her overseas campaign before they retire her, but I doubt that too.

I'm getting over this modern-day obsession with everything being "best ever".

She is a very good horse, why can't we just enjoy watching her race without constantly comparing her to great horses of yesteryear?

Big Bucks won at Cheltenham last night to go to 16-0. Not bad considering he's humping 3miles over hurdles.... Black who? Lol

Managed to come home a bit richer after a massive St Patricks Day (and night)

Could have been an ordinary day for me but finished reasonably strong. A pineapple on Mosheen at $4.20 finally got something back in the kitty. Had a little bit on Festina Lente in the Bendigo Guineas. Then the last at Bendigo i got Pitt Street at $6 a place, would have been a great day if that one got up.

Anybody on here a fan of the red hots trots?

I'm keen to start following it a bit more closely. Wen't off them after being brought up around them as a kid, but with the facilities at Menangle finally about to start being upgraded I thought now is as good a time as any.

Was so much easier backing a winner when they were at the smaller Harold park, just back leaders all night. The much bigger track at Menangle seems to race "fairer" with every horse getting its chance down the long straight.

Lots of short priced favs though which doesnt yield the nice returns that you become accustomed to with the gallops unfortunately.

Unfortunately can't abide the trots, largely due to the skinny odds on offer. Plus it stiill staggers me that anything could be more dodgy that the dishlickers and yet the trots succeeds easily.

Anyhoo, Royal Ascot looms large in a few weeks and two genuine superstars will go round (not against one another, mind). Frankel's seasonal debut on Saturday was everything you could of hoped for... hopefully he and Black Caviar can put on a galloping masterclass for the blerts in top hats

The trots seem to be their own worse enemy. They clean their act up and then all of a sudden theres another scandal that sends them back to where they came. The last one which included firebombing stewards cars seemed straight out of a movie. With the injection of prize money from the sale of the ribbon of light it will be interesting to see if the sport really cracks down like the pledge to do.

Its always hard dealing with horses injuries and recovery on short 7 day back ups like happens so often with the trots. Some medications need the full 7 days to be out of their systems and sometimes trainers cut it too fine and then pay the price with suspensions.

I'm looking forward to Royal Ascot. Can't wait to see Black Caviar give it to the "2nd rate" sprinters. It's a big ask for her to travel all that way and perform at her best but Moody knows her better than anyone and wont run her if she's not right. Let's hope she is because I'd love for her to remain unbeaten.

it seems each year the superstars of Australian racing keep getting better and better... just imagine for a minute that one better than Black Caviar comes along. Wow, now that would be something special.

Outstanding in every respect (the runner up is a quality horse and Helmet came midfield). 11 from 11 and due to retire in October.

it was good, but not great. he's a freak horse yes. but his opposition was nothing fantastic. i mean, helmet was in the market, and helmet is not great when you put him in that field. there were 2 good horses in that field and they ran 1-2. still no doubt in my mind he's a better horse then BC. just fingers crossed they never come up against each other.

Nearly broke the course record on good to soft going..... missed by 0.69 seconds. You can take that as the evidence of his run, rather than the eleven lengths he put on Excelerbration

He'll won't drop below a mile before he retires, so he'll never meet Black Caviar.

yeah i have no doubt he's better then BC. His run was good, but just like we've been saying about BC, he raced against nothing. Frankel running against Excelerbration is the same as BC against Hay List. That was no more impressive then when BC has put 10 lengths on rivals.

Don't know how Frankel's wins are worth more. From what I've seen he's had one or 2 tricky races just like BC.

That win by Frankel is astonishing

I'd like to see BC take it to the line that hard just once to see how much she can put on them. Rarely is she in a canter from 50 out

22! Nolan is going to get his arse kicked by Pete. That was too close for comfort. I bet he shit himself and thought he may have lost it. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Glad she won, it would have been a travesty if she lost because Nolan stopped riding her for the last 30m. The uphill straight six was tougher than they expected. Just wish she had of done it a little easier as it sort of takes bit of the gloss off the win, plus Nolans ride will come under immense scrutiny tomorrow in the papers lol.

Oh well, they went there to win and they did... but only beat their "2nd rate" sprinters by a short head or whatever the final margin was.

I don't know much about racing, but it seemed like an average ride from nolen towards the close of the race. Every other jockey was getting every last ounce from their horse except for him.

It was an arrogant ride, and he did a similar thing the start before.

Jockeys carry whips for a reason. Learn to use it Mr Nolan.

I don't believe the rumours that she was injured, or will be retired.

We'll see her in the Spring. Back bigger, and hopefully better, than ever before.

22/22 is freakish, let's not forget that.

He's only ever had to get stuck into her once in Sydney when she had to chase down a gallant Hey List. It was an arrogant ride, he expected to put lengths on her rivals last night and the track and conditions and possibly the horse itself prevented her from doing so. He should have been more aware of the other horses and rode her right out to the finish. She would have been dominate enough to win by 3/4-1 length but instead Nolan eased up on her too soon and it became a lot closer than it should have been.

To his credit though he has put his hand up and said it was a shocker so hopefully that is forgotten in the days to come and she is celebrated as the horse that took it to England and remains unbeaten from 22 starts.

Hope she comes back to Australia and cleans up all the major sprints in the spring and continues her unbeaten run.

Yep Hong Kong sprint then manikato then patinack number 3 then that'll do her I think. 25 and 0.

echoes here. nolen was arrogant. I still don't think she got out of 4th gear. put her in 5th and she wins by 3 lengths. nolen got away with murder.

take note: no whip again. Just watched a replay and she definitely had a gear to go. The others behind were hammering their horses and Nolan was only giving gentle nudges.

someone mentioned in the industry that maybe's just so used to switching off, that she did switch off. Punishment for Moody pulling her up before the line every start, maybe, but if a horse isn't trained to run a trip, then she's not going to.

TAKE NOTE - She was whipped.

I don't know what race you watched again but BC was clearly whipped several times between the 400m and 200m then Nolen switched to hands and heels after that and switched her off in the last bit.

Some horses need to be hammered to respond ie Northerly.

Gentle nudges. Please spare me.

If BC was ridden out she would of won by a length at most still a great sprinting mare but still way behind Sunline.

Yes she switches off at the end of her races but that is also due to the calibre of her opponents...

Transpires she was injured during the race and couldn't have gone any faster, torn back muscles... let's just hope she's in one piece and maybe runs once or twice before retiring.

As for Nolan, he's held his hands up, what do you guys want? Blood?

Exactly. He's taken the blame like a man and will continue to do so even though it turns out she was injured.

After watching it a few more times all that matters is that he got the job done. It doesn't matter if he eased her down and she just fell in or she jumped well kicked clear at the 400m and wins by 8 lengths. She still won, Nolan still rode her to victory and the connections picked up the $600 large Pattinack farm bonus on top of the prizemoney for winning the race. All is well that ends well.

Frankel 13 from 13. Stayed up to watch him run over 10f for the first time last night against a handy field.

Destruction is too mild a term. Trounced them with barely a gee up from the jockey. Truly magnificent.

Yeah watched that this morning. So good. The way he just looms up on their outside without using any petrol is almost unbelievable and then runs away with it. Best in Europe by a country mile.
