MEAT KATIE (UK) [LOT49]
Saturday 9th June @ New Guernica
Rock Like This in conjunction with Darkbeat & BWOMP! are very proud to present legendary LOT49 label boss and DJ.. Meat Katie.
Having played for Darkbeat & Rock Like This the past several times he has been in Melbourne, Mark Pember (Aka Meat Katie) has taken a special place in the eyes of all Darkbeat & Rock Like This Fans and DJs alike. Delivering high energy sets with his unique mix of Techno, Electro & Breaks, he continues to break down the barriers of music as we know it. His diversity and style have earned him respect on a global level, having played along side a huge list of acts from Chemical brothers, Pendulum, Basement jaxx & The Prodigy, to Justice, Simian mobile disco, Soulwax and Sasha & Digweed.
With mix compilations out on Fabric, Ministry of Sounds Sessions series and Bedrock and a list of releases and remixes taller than a break-dancing midget, remixing such diverse artists as Moguai, James Zabelia, Santos, D- Nox & Beckers, U.N.K.L.E, Lutzenkirchen, to Robbie Rivera and Deep Dish. Meat Katie has spent a long time spreading his vibe with the world, and now he comes back to Melbourne to remind us what he is all about.
For this event, Rock Like This returns to a space they once called home at F4, now known as New Gurnica to bring you a unique venue and vibe. Plus an all-star local line up to match. And if the last “World War” Party we had with Meat Katie and Janet Slack at Brown Alley is anything to go by then you know your in for another Rocking night! With support from the BWOMP Crew with Kodiak Kid spinning his flavours and Alturism and Griff playing LIVE sets in the side room. This is going to be a night of mixed generes and nothing but GOOD tunes!
Support Line up from:
Deviant, Citizen.com, Rollin Connection, JD, Kodiak kid, Alturism LIVE, Griff LIVE, Steve Boom Riley, + more TBA

I don't give a fuck about their emotional high school closet skeletons, I want to see Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher blind drunk on the street scissoring each other.
Yeah, will be awesome at New Guernica, much more intimate..
I haven't seen him in a few years now, but he never disappoints..
His encore show at Miss Libetine a few years back was insanity..
Can't believe Steve hasn't posted this yet.... haha

When we were discussing someone recording a mix this weekend in honour of Meat Katie's upcoming show, my hand shot into the air before I could think "Hey, Steve, you know, all your gear is in boxes, you've just moved house and you don't have any internet hooked up yet..". But fuck that, excuses are for pussies.. So I recorded a one shot mix while dancing around my studio with no shirt on because his music is SICK.
How do you choose one hour of music from a man who's made so many great tracks? You find the ones that you have enjoyed rocking to the most, and throw in a couple of top remixes of his tracks- that's how!
He's one of my favourite producers, funky AND tough- and also a genuinely nice guy - so I'm so pumped that I'm able to support a man who has helped sculpt my musical taste in such a big way..
Anyone who's checked out his many drunk Facebook YouTube parties can attest to the depth of his musical knowledge
Anyway, there's tonnes of fuck ups and I had to leave out a LOT of his top notch tunes, but I hope you enjoy listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed recording it, and head down to the Meat Katie gig at New Guernica next Saturday June the 9th, proudly supported by the Rock Like This & Darkbeat crews
