To all the nightclub DJ out there! How do u get hired to become a DJ at the nightclub?? Would like some advice

i ended up producing my own tracks and signing them to labels for afew years, then got booked in afew night clubs ....

Sucking dick is what helped me the most.

hahaha start with Uni gigs if youve got some connections there. Also depending on what genre your into theres quite a few DJ's/Producers that team up with promoters to create their own nights. Their often looking for locals to start the night out. Also add Damien Blaze on facebook hes starting a new club night at Gilkisons.

If you know people and are willing to
do heaps of promotion and can manage to successfully fill a club/bar when you get booked, you'll get a lot of gigs. That is all promoters care about.

That's slightly awesome - gigs at airports, your friend's pool, and more!

All I wanted to be was a house dj... went scrounging online and found a person selling 2nd hand technic turntables, so purchased them. They came with a mix of trance and hardstyle vinyls (had no clue what this was and only 'liked' house music). While saving up to buy some house vinyls I practiced on them and mucked around with mates... managed to get a few gigs from friends of friends playing hardstyle at house parties, and did some club promoting in the genre I liked. Also I handed out mixes etc whilst practicing my fist pumping skills. Thinking I would be more likely to score a gig by promoting at house clubs I used money I had raised to slowly upgrade my gear, buy speakers and cdjs, try throwing a few of my own parties so I could dj at the start & end to try and promote myself while have a good night. While I hired myself for my own gigs, other then my own nights I only picked up gigs in the hardstyle genre of music. When I moved onto campus at uni, I would play house parties which were purely requests. Eventually I was starting to dj a lot of uni parties but only hired as an rnb/pop dj for uni, and hardstyle for other gigs. After uni finished I picked up freelance job with some labels involved with raves, and rock... still haven't been hired for a house gig yet but one day I will be fist pumping a club with my house music !!!!!
Maybe a didn't handle the balls and shaft well enough to get gigs in the genre i like?

I'm a little impressed by that too....

I'm loving the cowboy boots in the first pic as well. Really adds to the legitimacy of the party. Who would wear cow boy boots to the car park unless there was a party going down?
