10km easy run @ 6:22 min/km - Wet cold and windy - footy oval was a lake, tempo session wasn't happening, I think I get points for effort for heading out tonight anyway #coldcoldcold

I just do my speed work on my normal running route.

I set up custom workouts on the Garmin & it tells me what to do.

cricket ovals are the best.... nice and smooth surface, no pot holes like on footy grounds. Ever notice though how all ovals are slightly sloped to allow for drainage? Its always a little bit tougher on one side than the other to hold the same pace.

30.03km @ 6:01 min/km. missed my target by like 30 seconds

stopped to refill my bottles when i hit the go between bridge (22km). fucking bubbler was broken, rage ensued. fortunately another one on the other side, stopped again, had a gel. right knee completely seized up and it was an almighty struggle to finish. as luck would have it, the reasonably strong headwind i ran into along the river had swung 180 degrees so it was another head wind with a sore knee

very stoked with myself for pushing on, but at the same time a big wake up call for how brutal 42.2km would be. also, 7 degrees when i started and 17 degrees when i finished, yet i was comfortable temperature the whole time (rolled the sleeves up after 16km). so stoked with this icebreaker stuff, it certainly deserves the reputation it has!

yeah, started doing more late feb, that's my 3rd >20km.

just need to make sure i'm getting the miles in week in week out to get some adaptation happening.

at about 26km, this tiny little kid on a tiny little bike went cruising past me. i almost gave up
