asked Ali if there where any plans of getting together with Sharam for Deep Dish and coming over to Aus any time in the near future,
told me that there where no plans as of yet but he would love to come over soon.

I didn't mind it, but it was a tad same-same. I suppose it is all tracks from his label however.

Don't iike everything he's done. But fuck me his remix of Grindhouse was huge, and even bigger on a huge system. His remix of Spastik was pretty sick too.

I'll agree if you mean his remix and not his "deep space" mix.

QTF
Fortunately one of the promoters dragged me into an underground bunker which had been turned into B018, a heaving DC-10 style club where we partied until dawn, singing along to Ladyhawkes Paris is Burning. As Paris says, Beirut rocks! (Sam La More)

It has not permeated this thread to the extent that I have seen it elsewhere but I am always staggered by the negativity that has surrounded his 'Dubfire' productions. 'Techno' lovers don't seem to accept him even though everyone of the techno heavyweights has thrashed numerous Dubfire tracks over the last few years. 'Prog' fans generally seem to resent his evoultion, a stance that has always frustrated me.

Surely everyone sees the connection between what he was doing as Deepdish before they went handbag and what Dubfire is currently doing. The character Deepdish had in the early days has been captured and reinvented to be as relevant as it has ever been. Dubfire is solely responsible for this. Yet his fans only ever want a return to the old Deepdish days.

Fancy resenting a guy that has topped both the 'Prog' and 'Techno' scenes.

Word.

I think alot of the techno purists diss him since the music he produces isn't really techno as such. This, plus the fact that he's an ordinary dj doesn't help his cause.

However, i really enjoy the music he makes and you have to admit that he's responsible for some of the biggest 'underground' tunes of the last few years (Ribcage, Emissions, Grindhouse, split the line etc). Good to see he hasn't saturated the market this year with his productions which a few producers have done.

Not a big fan of that b2b essential mix with hawtin either.

I think this was part of the problem. I love his productions but I think a lot of people jumped off the bandwagon when he was top of the beatport charts consistently, was liked by a broad range of people (ie not just chin strokers) and had a release every week it seemed. It's that whole get too popular and people dump you cos they want to be seen as underground (whatever that means).

LOL so many h8ters!

He has never done anything too much for me really - Roadkill is a pretty good big room tune. Grindhouse I personally thought was meh. He was playing pretty cool tunes at FMF this year, and he was dancing on stage to Sven when I had to top up Svens rider bucket with more energy dranks. Dubfire smiled and shook my hand - obviously could tell I'm an OG

Don't think I ever read this thread. Has been interesting to see where Dubfire has gone since the old days.

Enjoyed this set actually, decent build up over the two hours.

Patrice Scott track is rad, oh my
But if your life is such a big joke, why should I care?
