Agreed on the acting, the new Spartacus is crap, such a shame about Whitfield.
To me at least it seems like they toned down the sex in this season and have alot more swords coming out of heads and the like, the slow motion blood pouring all over the place is a bit on the old side now.

That said I still rate this show, looking forward to

Some Gannicus action, after the original Spartacus I enjoyed his storyline more than any other, close 3rd with Asher. The third Servile war looks to be shaping up nicely.

I rate Spartcus's new missus in the show.

Just been watching the first season on Foxtel in all it,s uncut glory. Loving it so far - its so over the top, but loving all the smut and violence. Such a shame about Andy Whitfield, he makes a great Spartacus.

Hope they continue straight in this new series or at least show the prequel mini series they did.

Grabbed it last night, pretty much the same as last season for me. The new Spartacus is a shit actor still.

Less boobs and sex than the first two season and alot more arms and heads flying around the place with red water shooting at the screen.

Watched the trailer also, being a history buff i'm not sure i'm all too keen on Julius Ceasar playing a large role in something there is no evidence he took no part in.

Gannicus German missus is pretty fucking fine though.

Missed this - actually, it is pretty likely that Ceasar was around at the time. Crassus had a role in the slave revolt in history, he was also the patrician to Ceasar, who, along with Pompey formed the First Triumverant.

I'm not doubting he is alive or doubting he ever took part in the 3rd Servile war...just not as a strong a leading role as the show has placed him.

There is no evidence of him ever doing so, there is plenty of his dealing with the pirates and being a lawyer. I have read translated copies of his writings about Gaul also, for someone who liked to blow his own horn, you would think had he done aything of worth against Spartacus we would have heard about it.

For sure. That's why they placed Crassus' kid in command, with Caesar being in the background up to bad shit, no doubt, but not leading anyone out in the open.

Sounds about right to me, historically.

You tried to correct me by saying 'actually Crixus is a Gaul and Gannicus was a Celt', but more correctly, Gannicus is also a Gaul. Both Crixus and Gannicus are both Celts, as that's the cultural group they belong to and Gauls, as that's the region they come from (modern day France, Belgium and bits of Spain). So no, I didn't repeat what you said, I corrected your mistake.

Also, yes, Agron is a German name, it's not 'made up' - the character isn't historically accurate, but they didn't just make up the name out of no where.

Though I will agree, it was pretty funny listening to Agron's boyfriend going 'we're gunna k'll s'm R'm'ns' through the entire season.

Make sure you do, I think it was better than the last two seasons. The final arena battle was the best fight scene from all the seasons
