Apart from lack of motivation, a huge reason why people don't get to the weight they want is they go automatically into 'maintenance mode'. That's great if you're actually at your target weight but how are you supposed to drop weight if you're not?

Go hard to get to where you want to be, then flatten out. However, be careful of how into it you get because that is a quick way to mentally and sometimes physically burn out. The reason why so many diets fail is because people either aren't prepared to stick it out to achieve their goal, which is when you go into maintenance mode, or they go way overboard and their body just flatlines.

Are those sort of pull ups (parallel grip pull ups is their name btw) really hard to do for women?

I find them easier to do than wide grip pull ups, but obviously males are built differently in the upper body.
