Sydney hijack - Norwest were runninga few different options of Funktion 1 rigs (which we have been using occasionally over the lest 6 years) and presume they still do (sold one or two systems to Simon, I believe?)... for big stuff, you can't look past them.

on right? i thought funktion 1 did all sorts of different kinds of stuff. almost every club i've been to in the UK has funktion 1, big or small.

they have them in favela (rip) and nevermind in sydney, both venues have a sweet spot right in the middle of the dance floor....and sound crap everywhere else

saying that, the portable systems that i've heard have been much better, as well as a res 4 stack

i don't see why everyone harps on about them so much. these days there are much better sounding speakers

I don't get it, everyone talks about this stuff but every time i have heard their speakers i haven't ever thought they are the best speakers in their price range! Mind you a good percentage of how a sound system sounds comes down to the install not just the speakers them selves!

No disrespect to you, but almost every club also has a digital mixer (Pioneer/ A&H), ortofon carts, and the acoustics of a large bathroom.

Totally. For the same price a club could get a custom install - some sort of folded horn type thing and some low-tech room treatment. But I guess then there's no brand for them to announce...

There are some great speaker coming out of Acoustic Technoligies in QLD but no one seems to talk about them, there SS24, FR77 and their GroundSwell sub are all great cabinets with or with out their DSP (i prefer without myself)..
If i have the time i will build subs for a club, you just can't beat a twin 18" w-bin with a extension for warm bottom end, mind you i have only built 4 in the last 15years as clubs seem to call us last minute, audio is always a afterthought!!
