Metro Trains SUCK!
Saw a couple lads taking photos of this guy. Good to see someone is keeping Metro honest. Even better that it's a betting company! Their service is sh!t.

The odds are saying that if the trains don't run on time it pays 2.75 so they're backing themselves with those odds.

I don't think you get how gambling works

But Metro's notion of what constitutes "on time" is bullshit

Plus they can just cancel a scheduled service if it's running too late and they have buffer room in the cancelled services VS the late services...they're a fucking shambles

It's also averaged over the whole train system, not line by line, so one line in particular could be really shit, and it won't drag the average down too far. Plus there's the double dipping of being reimbursed by the state government for fare evaders, as well as being able to fine those same fare evaders.

Well that's logical.

Retarded logic.

Japan has it bad, too, they have staff who forceably push the people onto the trains to cram everyone in...doesn't mean we can't expect a nice service here, it's completely irrelevant

Completely different. In Tokyo you can choose to avoid the rush hour and go get dinner / pissed and then return to find the trains running on time, probably every 4 minutes.

How is that different to here? The trains are fine in non-rush hour times, so they're not every 4 mins, more like 15-20mins, but we don't have the population to support more than that outside of peak times

The trains are not fine outside of rush hour. Trains skip stations, there's minimal accountability, line faults are commonplace

You know what else is pathetic? Living at South Yarra station and being unable to get a city loop train after 12pm.

If you think our trains run anywhere near as effectively or efficiently as the Japanese and a lot of other places you're actually delusional.
