Most recognised Barista Course in Melbourne
Seems like there are a quite a few places running courses
My missus is looking to do one, just wondering if anyone here knows the best or most recognised course to do,
considering she will be looking to get a job following the course, likely to be in a hotel or cafe/restaraunt
Cheers

Out of curiosity, does she have other hospitality experience?
Likes bright colours, dancing, soft fabrics.

Get a job in a cafe where the owners/staff know their shit and learn on the job IMO, you don't need to do a course to learn how to make coffee.

This goes for "cocktail" classes on an individual level too. You know when you do those? When the boss gets all the staff to do it and you learn as a team. Save your money.

I learnt to be a barista and bartender on the job, best way to do it.

hmmm. good points but if you've got a course under your wing you've got more chance of getting a job at some places. hard to find a really good cafe that will train you from scratch

yes she has experience working in 5 star hotels in Bangkok, and has also ran my bar for a while too
since we got back she has done her RSA (obviously a necessity here), and the food higiene course as well
being Melbourne (coffee fanatics) there are alot of jobs for baristas or cafes that list coffee making as a job requirement
I guess I just assumed most of these cafes want new staff to hit the ground running and dont want to train up newbies (I know I wouldnt!)
Fledz - i know what your saying , but I think the fact she is non-Australian, arming her with some qualifications cant hurt, and for $100 for a 3hr basic barista course its not alot of skin off my nose

cheers for the responses

Fair enough, not an extravagant expense. Go for it if you see a benefit.

Do you guys drink coffee much...if so you could buy a little machine and practice at home ....I've got a Breville Roma that costs me about $80 at a seconds shop and makes better coffee than half the cafes I check out

I was hoping someone could provide some programs suggestions for an online education courses. Searching about that I've come across the RSA Certificate Melbourne , but still I am confused what type of course is better for me. I am working in a hotel as an assistant accountant. So that coffee making course is good for me or Bartending course is good one for me. Please give me your opinion thanks!!
